System Operator Lead

Lead System Operator, serves as the shift leader, oversees the different desks ensuring that the responsibilities of the shift operators/dispatchers are being performed properly and procedures are being followed.


  • Works a 24/7 rotating shift schedule. Provides the leadership and guidance to system operators and dispatchers to ensure that the local Entergy transmission system is operated in accordance with applicable industry requirements and company guidelines.
  • Responsible for the security coordination and congestion management of the Entergy area.
  • Ensures that scheduled transmission facility outages are performed safely and reliably, while maintaining system security.
  • Monitors transmission lines and substation equipment for overloads, proper voltage and equipment alarms, and the restoration of service following interruptions to the transmission system.
  • Implements load relief procedures when necessary to protect system reliability and stability, and regulates transmission voltages within acceptable limits.
  • Responsible for keeping management informed of changes to the Bulk Electric System that impact reliability.

Minimum education required of the position
High school degree and operations work experience

Minimum experience required of the position
Minimum 8 years of operations-related experience

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
NERC System Operator Certification
