JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Perform radiological surveys on the primary, secondary, auxiliary systems, plant buildings and grounds.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide contamination and dose control. Maintain the Radiation Work Permit Program.

Track radiation exposure for personnel and work tasks. Determine methods to reduce radiation exposure.

Provide radiation protection coverage for work tasks. Establish worker stay times.

Establish radiological work requirements. Maintain laboratory quality control. Perform instrument calibration and operation. Respond to off normal conditions.

Maintain radiation exposures ALARA. Maintain radiation exposures within limits. Maintain respiratory protection program.

Radiologically post the power plant. Respond to off normal radiological conditions. Understand adverse radiological conditions on equipment and personnel performance. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position
Desired: B.S. Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a related technical degree or equivalent work experience. Naval Nuclear Power School and Engineering Laboratory Technician School.

Minimum experience required of the position
Senior Health Physics Technician: 6 years commercial nuclear experience. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. At least 2 years' experience at the facility. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills. Proficiency with current computer business applications. Health Physics Technician 3: 4 years commercial nuclear experience. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Proficiency with current computer business applications. Health Physics Technician 2: 2 years commercial nuclear experience. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Health Physics Technician 1 : High School diploma or GED.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.5.2- Technicians The standard specifies this as Journeymen Level Personnel, Radiochemistry Technician, Nuclear Control Technician, Nuclear Control Technician (I&C), Metrology Technician, Radiation Protection Technician, Lead Technicians. Minimum of 3 years of working experience in their specialty. Minimum of 1 year of the experience should be related technical training. High degree of manual dexterity. Individuals in training or apprentice positions are not considered technicians or maintenance personnel for purposes of defining qualifications in ANSI/ANS 3.1 section 4 'Qualification,' but are permitted to perform work for which qualification has been demonstrated.
