IT Specialist I or II (SCADA Apps)

POSITION PURPOSE:

This role provides support for real time specific applications for the business unit. The primary responsibility is to provide operational model maintenance and support of Entergy’s DMS/OMS system.

 

Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provide operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available
  • Provide System Architecture Support and maintenance of the following for the DMS/OMS System:
    • DMS/OMS Configuration
    • Habitat database
    • Permit Builds
    • Alarm Management
    • System Builds
    • Security Server and Software Patching
    • Process Manager updates
    • Configuration Manager, Replication Services, and Environment Variable updates
    • Version Control and Vendor Version Upgrades
    • SCADA Workstation Support
  • Provide modeling server support for the DMS/OMS Operations team
  • Effectively communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing
  • Provide project and vendor oversight and facilitate communications with other internal organizations including, but not limited to compliance, security, legal and procurement
  • Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system wide development plans to ensure the System Business Unit needs are met
  • Analyze user processes and requirements to identify, design and implement process improvements
  • Participate in the team 24 hour on-call rotation

 

Experience:

This position will be filled as an IT Specialist I or II depending on experience.

  • 0-4 years’ experience (or 2 years w/advanced degree) of relevant technology delivery with Subject Matter Expertise for Operations Technology
  • Track record of relevant technology delivery
  • Design, development and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements
  • Understanding of client business needs and objectives
  • Other position that would support the development and progression into this position would include the following:  IT Specialist

 

Critical Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment, including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to support real-time systems
  • Knowledge of the operation of the electric power and/or distribution systems
  • Ability to support cyber security activities such as, system hardening, patch management, and configuration management
  • Ability to support of fraud and computer forensics research

Minimum Educational Background and Physical Requirements Required to perform Job:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical degree or Equivalent Experience
