Job Summary/Purpose:
Candidate must have the ability to independently plan and coordinate detailed work activities
under general supervision including executing routine to advanced tasks involving the installation,
configuring, networking, provisioning, and technical support of diverse telecommunications
systems and network infrastructure components.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provision and maintain telecom network circuits, including fault isolation and resolution.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications hardware and restore service during
outages.
• Configure and support mesh network technologies and AMI/DA systems.
• Implement and troubleshoot IP networking solutions using ISIS, BGP, and OSPF routing
protocols.
• Implement and troubleshoot MPLS-TE/TP, Private Line Ethernet and other networking
solutions.
• Operate and interpret results from advanced test equipment such as Ethernet testers, RF
power meters, and OTDRs.
• Install, test, and repair microwave radio systems, 800 MHz LMR radio systems, and Fiber
Optic transport equipment, including packet switch, DWDM and legacy SONET.
• Perform splicing on fiber optic cables, including armored underground cable, overhead ADSS,
and OPGW.
• Perform AC/DC power system installation and maintenance to ensure reliable operation.
• Plan and execute assigned tasks with a focus on safety and efficiency.
• Supervise and train team members, providing clear instructions and guidance.
• Respond to after-hours call-outs to resolve urgent telecommunications issues
Minimal Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Special Qualifications/Education:
Telecom Tech:
1 year of qualified Communications Serviceman 3rd Class or equivalent experience in related
work, having all qualifications of the previous classification.
Must also have one of the following qualifications:
• 4+ plus years of experience in at least two of the following areas: voice system support,
two-way radio system support, fiber optic transmission system support, microwave radio
system support, or AC and DC power plant support, OR
• 2 year Electronics Technology Degree, OR
• Other related degree.
Telecom Tech Sr
2 years as a qualified Communications Serviceman 2nd Class or have equivalent experience in
related work having all qualifications of the Communications Serviceman 2nd Class.
• 4+ years of experience in at least three of the following domains: two-way radio system
support, fiber optic transmission systems, microwave radio system support, AC/DC power
plant maintenance, IP networking, VLAN, MPLS-TE/TP, mesh network technologies, or Fiber
optic transport technologies.
• Should possess a minimum of 4+ years of experience in a telecommunications Technician
role or an equivalent position.
• Must have a strong foundation in electronic circuitry, electronics theory, IP networking,
MPLS-TE/TP, PTP (Precision Time Protocol), SYNC-E Timing, and mesh network
technologies; must demonstrate operational knowledge of AMI/DA systems, Fiber Optic
Transport equipment, and all aspects of fiber as well. The ability to effectively analyze and
resolve complex technical challenges and adapt to a varied workload of non-routine tasks
is crucial.
• Must be compliant with all company safety policies and all applicable regulatory
requirements.
Physical/Personal Qualifications:
• Be willing to work in unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions
pertaining to this job.
• Candidate must possess the cognitive and physical capabilities required to perform the
essential functions of the telecommunications technician role, including the strength and
endurance necessary for physically demanding tasks encountered in the work environment
as circumstances may require.
• Applicants are expected to thrive in varied and demanding work settings, requiring
exceptional observational abilities, manual dexterity, meticulous attention to detail, and a
patient approach. Demonstrated capacity for leadership is essential, along with the ability
to communicate clear and precise instructions, thereby building strong working
relationships and fostering a collaborative team atmosphere with both superiors and
subordinates alike
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field is preferred.
Alternatively, possession of a two-year degree in Electronics Technology or a closely
related field is acceptable.

• Must maintain a valid Class D driver's license, TWIC card, or other necessary licenses,
background checks, and identification.
