Job Summary/Purpose

Responsible for the operations of the Construction workgroup consisting of company and contractor resources. The incumbent must be able to Assign, manage and monitor work of company employees and contract crews. Visit job sites in all types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, storm, etc.); different types of terrain (remote, city, swamps, marsh, water, etc.) Ensure work is performed in a safe manner while meeting construction specifications. Interfaces with a number of operational, customer service Engineering, Vegetation, Customer Service, Operations, Distribution Operation Center and other departments within the company while dealing with the financials on each job assignment.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Must manage Large constructions projects, service requests, outage restoration, reliability improvement, responding to Customer Issue Resolution complaints, resolving executive and utility commission complaints and Construction Operations spending to meet Budget obligations.
  2. Accountable to motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed Entergy and Contractor work force dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues. Responsible to influence employees at the craft level through Jurisdictional Leadership on a wide variety of safety and training issues. Lead teams to achieve operational excellence by: 1) setting and communicating aggressive performance expectations, 2) learning/teaching process improvements, 3) measuring/monitoring performance levels, 4) providing feedback positive/negative and coaching performance improvements to employees.
  3. Responsible to focus on the training and development of all employees to ensure that they are qualified to perform the work they are assigned. Required to lead storm teams (consisting of approximately 50 people or more) during outage restoration. Required to respond to storm restoration and manage employee call out schedules/response.
  4. Oversees distribution project construction by company or contract personnel. Attends safety tailboard meetings in all types of weather and locations. Will oversee and spend several hours per visit at each jobsite on a daily basis. Responsible to set up customer outages and switching as needed for operational and safety contingency. Distribute memos to each building/house in outage area prior to scheduled outage. Involved with isolating lines during switching procedure.
  5. Review contractor invoicing for accuracy and approve once we have verified charges are correct and as per contracts rates and terms. Must spend considerable time in the field conducting safety observations and audits of contractor completed work. Responsible for attending Pre-Design and Pre- Construction meetings to promote productive design and construction of large distribution projects. Responsible for the recording of completed work within Entergy systems, keep and manage all records, design As-Built, complete Time & Labor entry.
  6. Responsible to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Have the ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Accountable to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

 

Minimum experience required of the position

7+ years experience in work related field (Distribution Operations or Engineering). Strong knowledge of computers and related technology.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
