JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations to address any customer account maintenance and/or concerns and providing support services by processing utility payments timely and accurately. Individuals may be required to interact with various cross-functional groups to address customer related issues that impacts customer billing, billing delivery and credit & collection functions, as well as participates in process improvement initiatives.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform various activities required to post, modify, and investigate customer payments and returns made through various electronic payment channels
- Conducts customer account reviews and helps resolve payment issues in a timely manner
- Prioritizes and executes daily required processes, with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Identifies trends and reports issues to appropriate parties when there is data inconsistencies and irregularities
- Tracks, measures, and reports out on daily operations and duties to supervisor and co-workers
- Participates in process changes and testing when appropriate as defined by management to support business processes
- Communicates with various departments to understand customer needs and reduce customer complaints
- Responds to customer inquiries concerning electronic and manual payment issues
- Assists Remittance Processing with opening of mailed in payments, as needed
- Provides administrative support, as needed
- Maintains departmental records in accordance with regulatory requirements in a confidential and secured manner
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education and experience required of the position
Accounting Clerk I: At least 0-2 years of work experience (such as: customer service, data entry, customer account maintenance, etc.) with an Associate’s Degree in a technical or business related field OR in lieu of degree, minimum 2+ years of related experience
Accounting Clerk II: At least 2-5 years of work experience (such as: banking, electronic payment posting, customer service, data entry, etc.) with an Associate’s Degree in a technical or business related field; OR in lieu of degree, minimum 4+ years of related experience.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and ACCESS
- Ability to recognize trends, draw conclusions and provide recommendations based on data provided and/or extracted
- Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
- Strong verbal and written business communication skills with ability to clearly communicates with team, customers, and others
