JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Supervisor, Central Procurement is accountable/responsible for management of the material procurement functions within the Central Procurement Group.  This includes managing a team of procurement professionals who support the business to meet the material demand requirements through effectively utilizing Supply Chain processes (i.e. planning, sourcing, bidding, negotiating, purchase order execution, and purchase order administration) and in accordance with company policies. This role involves leading a team to deliver high quality and best value across the enterprise demand timeline and with strict adherence to system policies and Entergy’s core values, as well as all safety,  quality , buy local, and diversity requirements.  Strong collaboration and communication within the Supply Chain organization, Finance, stakeholders, Legal, Risk, Tax and Environmental is required.    

The Supervisor, Central Procurement will work closely with Category Specialists, Warehouse / Inventory personnel and end customers, and will report the Manager, Supply Chain for Power Delivery Materials. 

 JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety/Human Performance: Ensure the Team always puts safety first. Actively promote strong safety behaviors, utilizing key tools such as Close Call /Good Catch in addition to proactive field visits to review standards and behaviors. Monitoring and influencing Suppliers to proactively identify any safety concerns.
  • Ensure high quality support for Materials is delivered to the Business Units. Manage the preparation, negotiation, execution and administration of purchasing documents.  Work with interfacing groups to align Supply Chain priorities and resolve technical issues.  Manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
  • Assist the Manager in budget development and manage departmental functions within budget.
  • Establish departmental objectives and standards of performance in accordance with defined Supply Chain objectives and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Actively seek and solicit ideas from staff for Continuous Improvement.  Develop process improvements regarding the procurement process, procedures, or technology.  Act on behalf of  Procurement Operations leadership, as required.
  • Control inventories to ensure required parts or materials are available to meet schedule requirements while avoiding excess/obsolete materials.  Ensure that the buying power of Entergy is leveraged without any sacrifice of quality.
  • Assist in the research of data. Provide reports as required for management.  Deliver presentations to all levels of management and outside organizations.
  • Maintain frequent contact with senior management regarding key functional issues.  Communicate effectively throughout the organization to ensure fleet and corporate goals and objectives are understood and supported.
  • Ensure ethical standards and company polices are followed in all procurement related functions. Oversee procedures and other process descriptions to ensure continued compliance with all regulatory requirements and implementation of best practices
  • Partnership: Accountable for establishing and maintaining healthy and positive stakeholder relationships. This activity includes establishing cross-functional and cross-sector teams with key stakeholders and creating a multi-year demand plans with integrated supply chain solutions.
  • People Leadership: Accountable for leverage of Supply Chain’s Talent Management Strategy to assure the right Supply Chain talent is recruited, developed, retained, and deployed in line with key business priorities. Mentor and coach staff.
  • This position will lead approximately 5 to 10 direct reports.
  • Culture: At all times the Supervisor shall operate with the highest ethical standards and in full compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Accountable through supply base partners to execute Entergy’s Supplier Diversity & Local Spend objectives.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Minimum education required of the position

Supply Chain degree or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience. 

MS/MBA degree preferred. Professional supply chain/procurement certification preferred. 

 

Minimum experience required of the position 

3 years of experience in materials/warehousing, purchasing, contracts or project management.

  • Knowledge of MRO materials, receipt inspection activities, warehousing and inventory management practices
