Note: This position will be based out of Entergy's Nuclear Headquarters, at Echelon One, in Jackson, MS. Relocation for those outside the area will be required, no relocation assistance is available for this posting. ***This position may be filled as a Project Controls Specialist II, III or Senior based on the background and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
Job Summary/Purpose:
Responsible for the cost control, management of change, and other project support functions and activities, as instructed by management. Creation, maintenance, updating and analysis of project man-hour/cost budgets versus actual and committed values, forecasted man-hours/costs at completion, management of change, cost forecasting, and issuing reports to the Project Team, Project Manager, and management as required.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements while ensuring safety is considered in all aspects of project execution.
- Setting up the control systems for the project to record, maintain and report original and current budgets, pending/approved/rejected change orders and budget transfers, actual spend, estimate-to-complete, estimate-at-completion amounts, and their variances against control budgets, and work progress and productivity values.
- Gathering, consolidating, producing, and incorporating into reports, all required cost, management of change, progress and performance data and charts, and ensuring they are current and accurate, and issue reports as required and on-time.
- Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management.
- Prepares reports and presentations to management. Prepares and issues status reports as needed.
- Identifies, makes timely decisions, and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority or capability to resolve.
- Coordinates with all functional departments as required to successfully execute the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and process, to achieve project budget and timeline, and interacts with Supply Chain to ensure timely project and contract information flows to the Project Managers.
- Monitors contractor performance in project safety, cost, quality of work, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Delivers projects with cost with certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk by identifying and mitigating risks.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum education required of the position:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations, or accounting or equivalent work experience. Equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Finance Specialist level.
- Desired: B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related discipline generally associated with financial reporting.
Minimum experience required of the position:
- Project Controls Specialist II (Nuc): 2+ years of experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, production, finance or equivalent.
- Project Controls Specialist III (Nuc): 4+ years of experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, production, finance or equivalent.
- Project Controls Specialist Sr (Nuc): 6+ years of experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, production, finance or equivalent.
- Desired:
- Experience in an operating nuclear power plant environment.
- 3 years of equivalent work experience.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.
- Technical understanding in Project Management.
- Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
- Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills.
- Ability to apply computer attributes using spreadsheets, databases, and other computer software.
- Including pivot tables, macros and moving of large data set between software platforms.
- Desired:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communications skills and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of plant systems and operation
- Financial acumen including recovery mechanisms.
- Knowledge and experience with databases, excel functionality, data analysis, business analysis, Power BI and other data analysis methods.
- Ability to multi-task and handle various projects simultaneously to drive timely results.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and facilitate action across numerous groups and departments.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and to effectively manage within it.
- Ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences and convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling, and succinct way in written and verbal communications.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position.
- Desired: PMP or AACE certification
- Desired: CPA certification
