Job Summary/Purpose
The Employee Relations Specialist, Sr leads complex employee relations matters. This role leads medium to high risk and sensitive workplace fact findings, provides strategic guidance on conflict resolution, and partners with HR and business leaders to address performance management challenges, including disciplinary actions. The ER Specialist Sr ensures alignment with employment laws, internal policies, and organizational values while fostering a fair, inclusive, and compliant work environment.
Beyond case management, this role identifies emerging trends and contributes to the development of employee relations processes and policies, and supports enterprise-wide initiatives that mitigate risk. The Sr Specialist also plays a key role in strengthening relationships with employees, and management.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues across multiple business units.
- Oversee and provide guidance on high-risk, or sensitive employee relations matters.
- Independently manage a wide range of employee relations cases across multiple business units, including fact findings, policy violations, workplace misconduct, interpersonal conflict and provide recommendations and guidance to management on appropriate actions.
- Provide conflict resolution and mediation services to help employees and managers address workplace disputes.
- Support the performance management process by advising on disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, suspensions, demotions and terminations.
- Consult with employees and managers on the interpretation and application of company policies.
- Assist with drafting coaching or disciplinary documents and talking points.
- Ensure timely, accurate and thorough documentation of employee relations cases, including detailed case notes and supporting materials within the ER case management system to support decision-making and legal compliance.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Labor Relations, Legal, and Compliance to ensure consistent and compliant practices.
- Identify trends and recurring issues in ER cases and recommend potential solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance the employee relations function.
- Support data-driven decision-making by compiling case metrics and contributing to regular reporting cycles.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of employee relations training programs by developing materials, and documentation that support learning objectives.
- Mentor and support junior ER team members by sharing best practices and providing guidance on case strategy and documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of labor relations and compliance requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to support reducing labor risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the labor relations department as needed/required.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field OR equivalent work experience
Minimum experience required of the position
- 6 years of HR or related experience without a degree or 5 years of HR or related experience with a degree.
- Experience supporting a large, multi-site U.S. workforce (10,000+) inclusive of union represented workers preferred.

- Advanced communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
