Job Summary
The Analyst is responsible to perform research, data analysis and modeling about Entergy’s (ETR) electric utility load, industries and customers, and commercial and business environment, which may have key implications for ETR’s long-term growth. This role supports projects, initiatives, or efforts by analyzing customer’s usage data, industrial and economic trends, supply and demand, business environment, and evaluating possible scenarios, and performing commercial analysis. The work scope also includes research and analysis to develop commercial and business assumptions for various growth initiatives and innovation efforts.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Research and analysis in utility load segments, industry outlooks, and develop data analysis and modeling framework in these areas. Research and analysis may include:
- Industrial/commercial load categories (e.g., Refining, Steel, Petrochemicals, etc.)
- Analyzing the businesses economic drivers: supply & demand; price setting mechanisms, etc.
- Utility regional economics - regional and state drivers
- General trends, macroeconomic effects on utility businesses and customers
- Commercial and business assumptions relevant to ETR and our customer’s businesses
- Leveraging AI productivity and research tools to efficiently synthesize macroeconomic trends and industrial sector outlooks.
- Monitoring and maintaining the integrity and validity of critical data.
- Designing, building, and maintaining reports and data dashboards to derive insights from data.
Research key trends in commercial and business environment in our region and develop understanding of key assumptions that may drive innovative products and services for ETR’s utility customers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education and Experience required
Financial Analyst I: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Sciences, Engineering or other analytical fields and 2+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy, or a related field is required OR in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy or a related field is required.
Financial Analyst II: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Sciences, Engineering or other analytical fields and 3+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy, or a related field is required OR in lieu of a degree, 7+ years of experience in consulting, finance, energy or a related field is required.
Preferred Qualifications (Pluses)
MBA, MS Economics, MS Finance, or MS Analytics in related areas.
Decent understanding of energy, power, electric utility, commodities or energy finance.
Experience in data analysis, programming, or forecasting (machine learning algorithms, clustering techniques regression analysis etc.) using analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, SPSS, MATLAB, or Java.
Experience leveraging generative AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) and prompt engineering to accelerate market research, analyze data sets, or automate routine workflows.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Solid proficiency in advanced Excel modeling
- Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
- Strong organization skills and attention to details
- Ability to communicate complex matters in a clear and logical manner
- Understanding of energy markets and electric utility business models
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- AI literacy, including the ability to critically validate AI-generated research and maintain corporate data privacy
