JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE 

This position plays a critical role in Entergy’s ethics and compliance (E&C) program. The E&C program is focused on fostering an ethical culture at Entergy and promoting employee compliance with applicable laws and company policies. The position assists the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer and the Senior Manager of Internal Investigations in executing the overall strategic direction and oversight of compliance for Entergy Corporation and all of its subsidiaries and affiliates (Entergy). The position reports to the Senior Manager of Internal Investigations and will work with leadership across the company to investigate potential, suspected, and actual violations of law and company policy. The position will also work with the appropriate stakeholders to address gaps in controls and continuous improvement opportunities. The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to diverse Entergy functions, including but not limited to Nuclear Operations, Human Resources, and Human Resources Operations, through interactions with key personnel at all levels of the enterprise.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct multiple investigations simultaneously across the company in every business unit. Advise and consult with other investigators regarding investigation strategies and approaches.
  • Maintain customer relationships with senior members of Entergy’s management team to address sensitive personnel issues and opportunities for improvement based on investigation results.
  • Demonstrate leadership attributes in selected areas of subject matter expertise.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to lesser experienced investigators.
  • Plan and execute human relations investigations including, but not limited to, discrimination, retaliation, and harassment. Other investigations will include workplace violence, fraud, conflicts of interests, misuse of company assets and other violations of company policies and/or law.
  • Interview employees at all levels of the organization regarding complex and sensitive matters. 
  • Maintain extreme confidentiality of all investigation matters and disclose information only on a need-to-know basis at the appropriate time.
  • Review documents, records, reports, and policies/procedures to prepare an investigation plan. Write clear and thorough investigation reports suitable for dissemination to management and counsel. Identify value-added recommendations to improve processes and internal controls following investigations.
  • Represent the Company in court proceedings, EEOC hearings, Union arbitrations, and NRC investigations regarding investigative findings.
  • Routinely prepare and present trending data from investigations and problem areas to senior management (excluding members of the Office of the Chief Executive).
  • Prepare and deliver training to internal and external stakeholders.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (advanced degree a plus) or equivalent work experience (greater than 15 years).

Minimum experience required of the position 

  • Investigator I - III: 0 - 5 years of experience conducting investigations
  • Lead Investigator: 5+ years of experience conducting investigations
  • Sr. Lead Investigator:  7+ years of experience conducting investigations

 

  • Desired: Experience in HR, Investigations, Accounting, Compliance, or Legal

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position 

Expertise and Knowledge

  • Thorough working knowledge of investigations, report writing, communications, and investigative interviewing techniques
  • Knowledge of HR related legal and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of electric utility business preferred
  • Business Expertise—ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend improvements to business processes or services.
  • Familiarity with internal controls and risk assessment techniques preferred, understanding of processes and flowcharting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of PowerBI preferred
