Job Purpose

The AI Governance Intern supports Entergy’s AI Governance team in ensuring that AI tools, solutions, and agents are developed and used safely, responsibly, and in alignment with company policies. This role is ideal for a student who is curious about AI risks, security, ethics, and responsible technology; and who enjoys helping teams follow good practices that keep AI reliable and trustworthy.

Working with AI Governance, AI product teams, and cross‑functional groups such as security, legal, compliance, and IT, the Intern will help review proposed AI solutions, assist in building governance guidelines and checklists, support risk assessments, and contribute to training materials that teach responsible AI practices. The Intern will also help track compliance and learn how enterprise governance works in real‑world settings. 

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Coursework or projects involving AI, machine learning, or data analytics.
  • Interest or basic exposure to security, risk management, or responsible technology.
  • Prior experience in clubs, group projects, or internships where documentation or structured processes were used is helpful but not required.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Basic understanding of AI or machine learning concepts.
  • Interest in governance, risk management frameworks, or AI safety.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas.
  • Curiosity about regulations, ethical considerations, and the evolving field of responsible AI.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working with checklists and structured processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing proposed AI solutions and documenting potential risks or policy considerations.
  • Help build and maintain AI governance guidelines, checklists, and light documentation to support responsible AI development.
  • Support monitoring and reporting of basic compliance activities.
  • Help research current trends in AI risk management, governance frameworks, and safety practices.
  • Collaborate with AI Enablement to help create training content about responsible and secure AI use.
  • Assist in maintaining records, organizing documents, and preparing simple summaries for cross‑functional teams.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

None required, but a familiarity with frameworks like the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and an awareness of cloud services or SaaS platforms is desired.

Working Conditions/Essential functions/Physical requirements

Office environment with minimal physical requirements.
