Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and control the integrity of water chemistry utilized in various plant systems
  • Collect and analyze water, oil and coal samples from various plant systems
  • Provide testing, calibration and maintenance of chemical and environmental equipment and instrumentation
  • Assure compliance with various regulatory permits and standards
  • Maintain inventory and supplies for the laboratory
  • Monitor the unloading of various bulk chemical trucks
  • Operate and maintain Waste Water and Potable Water plants
  • Work schedule is (4) 10-hour days
  • Must be willing to work overtime with little or short notice when called out to assist plant operations in shutdowns, startups, etc. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Biology or other physical science or at least 5 years of power plant operations/chemistry experience
  • Must be able to obtain necessary licenses and certifications once in job position 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • The incumbent should be familiar with and able to utilize various laboratory equipment including spectrophotometer, AA, and moisture analyzer, among others
  • The incumbent should possess competent interpersonal relationship skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced problem solving skills, and proficiency on the computer
  • The incumbent should be self-motivated, capable of exercising sound judgment related to chemistry decisions and ability to work with diverse cultures
  • Must be willing to abide by all safety procedures to perform work in a safe and timely manner. Must be able to lift and carry moderate loads (~40lbs) and be able to climb stairs

EEI Testing:

One way that Entergy has found to identify and assess the abilities and skills needed for certain jobs is through pre-employment testing.
