Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities. 

 

* This position will be filled as a Maintenance Operator II, Maintenance Operator III, Maintenance Operator, or Mechanical Technician based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidates. *

 

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Perform routine maintenance tasks and available for unscheduled call outs.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary skill is a Journeyman Machinist/Millwright capable of operating machine tool equipment which includes a bridgeport and lathe. Also responsible for performing large and small equipment alignment.
  • Welding may be required along with some other multi-skill activities. During unit outages, provide contractor management, quality control, cost management and schedule management.
  • Perform other maintenance multi skill activities which includes minor electrical, instrument and controls work/inspection/repair.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment problems.
  • Applies understanding of power plant system, starting & stopping equipment, isolating & restoring equipment for maintenance and monitoring turbine generator and large pumps.
  • Ensures safety standards and practices are adhered to for the protection of personnel and equipment in accordance with Corporate, Environmental, Plant & OSHA policies, procedures & regulations.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Maintenance Operator II: 0-2 years’ experience in operations or similar field or entry level with a background in process technology or instrumentation
  • Maintenance Operator III: 2- 3 years’ experience in operations or similar field
  • Maintenance Operator: 3 years’ experience in operations or similar field
  • Mechanical Technician: 5 years power plant operations and/or maintenance experience


Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Journeyman level Machinist/Millwright is primary skill (minimum 5 years, desired 10 years)
  • Understanding of the principles of mechanical/electronic tools, instruments, controls, measuring devices, gauges, mechanical equipment, and piping systems
  • Familiar with the principles of operation of steam boilers, turbine-generators, motors, pumps, heaters, water chemistry equipment and simple loop controls
  • Understanding written & verbal communications, basic writing skills
  • Understand & operate a personal computer


Any Certificates, Licenses, etc.:

  • Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test.

 

 

Company Testing Requirement:

  • Successful completion of the POSS/MASS test.
