JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Responsible for providing technical leadership for the site through optimization and reliability of mechanical and electrical equipment, proactive identification and resolution of plant issues, and technical assistance to the Operations and Maintenance departments. Provides technical support related to plant equipment.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as the focal point of knowledge and technical expertise concerning their components and equipment (performance requirements, margins and bases, operating status, performance monitoring and analysis, planned maintenance, industry operating experience, etc.).

Focuses on identifying potential problems through performance monitoring of assigned components and PM optimization through feedback from Maintenance personnel and PM reviews. 

 

Monitors performance, trending, and walk downs for assigned components. Equipment ownership / engagement / advocacy / prioritization for deficiency resolution leading to high levels of equipment reliability.  Maintains equipment related information in a manner that readily supports turnover.

 

Engages cross functional teams to resolve equipment challenges, develop engineering change requests, and support the work management process.  Supports Maintenance and Operations in troubleshooting and provides expertise for troubleshooting significant events or complex plant problems. Supports changes in assigned equipment configuration/design and associated design basis.

 

Assists with establishing and prioritizing action plans to address deficiencies on assigned equipment via the corrective action and work management processes. Interfaces with Maintenance and Operations for cost effective maintenance strategies on assigned equipment.

Coordinates work scoping activities with the Engineering Work Week Coordinator.


Uses and shares Operating Experience (EN Fleet and industry).

 

Assists with planning and developing life-cycle management plans for assigned systems.

Helps develop engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures. Advocates appropriate outage work scope prioritization and PM implementation for improving system reliability. Participates in project teams for critical on-line system outages or refueling outages. Serves on outage engineering support teams as assigned.

 

Cognizant of License Renewal related activities and documentation requirements.

 

Attends training and maintains qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.

 

Supports the Emergency Response Organization in an assigned ERO position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other closely related scientific discipline or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience defined as demonstrated success at the engineer or technical specialist level.)

Minimum experience required of the position

Engineer I/Technical Specialist I- 0-2 years’ experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level.

Engineer II/Technical Specialist II- 2-3 years’ experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level.

Engineer III/ Technical Specialist III- 3-5 plus years’ experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level.

Engineer Sr./ Technical Specialist IV- 5 plus years’ experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level.



Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Good to excellent communication skills and experience. Proficiency in PC use and associated applications.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Desired: SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR; Professional Engineering license.
