JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The Plant Assets Team Leader reports directly to the Plant Manager. They direct, lead, and supervise a team of operations personnel in a cross-functional multi-craft, multi-skilled plant environment at a Natural Gas fired power plant, while sharing responsibility for its safe, efficient, and reliable operation. 

 

Direct and develop operations standards while championing Conduct of Operations. Direct and develop operations personnel. Identify negative trends creating safety, compliance, and reliability risk and develop mitigating actions to prevent negative events. Develop strategic goals to align plant performance with organizational Key Results.  

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides direction to operations personnel in support of the operations program, schedule resources, and manages staffing issues
  • Responsible for safety, compliance, reliability, investment strategy, performance monitoring and all other operating aspects of plant
  • Provides leadership for and the development of direct reports to embrace a culture of strong fundamentals of power plant operation and maintenance
  • Assures that plant operations/maintenance personnel comply with safe work practices and processes, comply with plant procedures, and efficiently and effectively operate and maintain the plant equipment
  • Ranks and prioritizes safety, compliance, reliability, and financial risks using data analysis and historical and predictive maintenance information from both internal and external industry sources to support budget/project development, cost control for short range work plans, long range strategic planning, and execution of projects.
  • Interfaces with other members of plant management team to drive resolution of key issues impacting business processes, budget, maintenance strategies, outage scope, schedule, and costs for facilities
  • Performance is measured by OEI and Key Results Measures of Success
  • Demonstrates safety leadership as evidenced by effective coaching interactions logged in ILS/CCGC/HMO
  • Budget Management for site to achieve Net-zero impact in current year while achieving Power Generation targets in current year and 5-year plan
  • Leadership of assigned teams with positive outcomes in projects, initiatives, and assignments
  • Meaningful development plans for direct reports

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Desired: 
    • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering or equivalent work experience (e.g. 10 years of power plant experience with at least 5 years of power plant maintenance or Engineering experience) 

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Without technical degree: At least 10 years of power plant experience with at least 5 years of power plant maintenance
  • With technical degree: At least 5 years of power plant maintenance
  • Desired:
    • Supervisory or other leadership experience  
    • Engineering experience

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • History of strong accountability for results
  • Knowledge of power plant operating and maintenance practices, equipment maintenance strategies, lockout /tag out and other safety procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with contractors and outside agencies
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, and to learn new applications as appropriate
  • Ability to build a strong team through demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to actively engage subordinates and other plant personnel to strive for operational and maintenance excellence
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Desired:
    • Ability to collect large amounts of data and effectively organize and summarize data sets for clear understanding. 
    • Proven leader in establishing or re-establishing core processes that are inherent to the utility business.
