JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate simple equipment such as waste compactors, decontamination laundry machines for clothing and masks, tool and equipment decontamination units, air samplers, portable and survey instruments and radiation protection counting and laboratory equipment.
  • Be able to erect work containment areas to minimize the spread of radioactive contamination.
  • Collect samples and perform radiological surveys.
  • Assist in providing radiological controls during special and routine operations, special and routine maintenance, refueling and emergency or unusual operations.
  • Prepare minor reports, log results of surveys and perform personnel exposure accountability as assigned.
  • Response test survey instruments and operate computer terminals.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations, including scientific notations both manually and with the use of a calculator.
  • Maintain qualifications to operate motor vehicles, such as automobiles or light trucks.
  • Conduct routine and special surveys for contamination, radiation, and airborne radioactivity.
  • Operate a variety of portable instruments such as ionization chambers, portable air samplers, and instruments utilized for performing whole body counting, mask fit testing, pulmonary function tests, body burden calculations, bioassays and TLD readings.
  • May train others within a limited scope concerning radiation protection.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping, decontamination of equipment, clothing, and areas as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission endorsed regulations and standards.
  • Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards, and other regulatory agencies.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education preferred for the position:

ANSI 3.1 Certification

 

Minimum experience required for the position:

  • 4 years commercial nuclear experience or related work
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations.
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position:

Individuals in training or apprentice positions are not considered technicians or maintenance personnel for purposes of defining qualifications in ANSI/ANS 3.1 section 4 qualification but are permitted to perform work for which qualification has been demonstrated.

Pre-Employment Testing required for the position:

EEI TECH test required with a score of “Test Recommended”

 

Successful completion of the EEI TECH test.

One way that Entergy has found to identify and assess the abilities and skills needed for certain jobs is through pre-employment testing.
