JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- Capital Projects Manager (CPM) provides leadership, oversight and strategic direction for transmission line and substation projects in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi delivering cost, scope, & schedule certainty, focusing on high quality results & transparency throughout project life-cycles.
- The position leads a team of assigned jurisdictional and contract support experts in delivery of the capital program including project planning, organization, execution, and oversight of all projects within the Transmission portfolio.
- Accountable for monitoring and coordinating site-based construction activities including those performed by contractors, vendors and employees.
- Provides direct management and support to project team members throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensures compliance with approved standards, policies, and procedures.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for implementation and monitoring of company and contractor safety initiatives affecting the execution of transmission line & substation construction projects throughout the geographic area.
- Works with Construction Leadership in managing the portfolio budget including individual project execution and annual transmission capital plan performance.
- Provides the primary interface with the contractor's senior site representative. Works to establish a relationship that promotes open communication and cooperation between the Owner and Contractor site teams.
- Coordinates with all functional departments as needed to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and guidelines.
- Provides leadership and direction to ensure assigned project portfolio is executed in accordance with company, business unit, and work group practices, processes, procedures, and policies including multi-discipline activities such as project management, project controls, change management processes, project issue resolution, substation and line civil and construction work, steel and electrical installations, system protection and control installations and checkout, ROW clearing, implementation and monitoring of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan to ensure compliance with Environmental regulations and laws and resolution of customer related complaints and concerns
- Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and executes the project in adherence with this plan.
- Negotiates & manages contract execution ensuring the safety performance, quality of work scope, cost, and schedule attainment of contractors meet or exceed expectations.
- Ensures each contractor is constructing the project in accordance with the drawings, specifications and specifics of the contract agreement. Monitors construction progress and initiates discussions on recovery actions, as needed. Reviews Daily Reports submitted by Contractor. Reviews invoices and verifies completion of field work prior to approval for payment. Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk through identification and mitigation of risks.
- Manages portfolio status reporting; interfaces with management of all stakeholders to achieve intended results; represents portfolio in internal leadership meetings, external regulatory hearings, customer meetings, and prepares written testimony as appropriate.
- Identifies, communicates, and takes prompt action when project issues arise that could impact project performance, including appropriate and timely escalation to Construction Leadership when project milestones may be challenged.
- Responsibilities span Entergy's entire system and require flexibility to work in diverse settings across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi —including corporate offices, project sites, substations, and field locations under various weather and operational conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent/related work experience (in addition to Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of degree.
- Preferred: Advanced Degree Preferred - MBA, Masters in Engineering, Construction, Project Management.
Minimum experience required of the position
- 10 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Subject Matter Expert in project and construction management fundamentals and complicated project problem resolutions.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations.
- History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications, processes, software and equipment.
- Understanding of Industry Best Practices.
- Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience, team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
- Knowledge of Effective Estimating Practices.

Ability to perform field walkdown observations/inspection on foot across moderate to rough terrain. Ability to lift 40 pounds.
