Job Summary/Purpose
Responsible for leading efforts necessary to ensure execution success in delivering an OpCo’s significant capital plan and major customer growth (which reflects a Utility investment > $5B). Responsible for driving execution and problem resolution across multiple large interdependent execution teams (including OpCo Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement, Regulatory, Power Delivery, Power Development, Capital Projects, and others). Develops and maintains the holistic program execution strategy (including, cost, schedule, and risk management). Leads routine execution governance reviews with the Operating Company lead team, the Office of the Chief Executive, and the Board of Directors
This individual is a leader with demonstrated experience in large project development and execution, commercial acumen, governance, and who is a strong advocate for delighting the customer. The preferred candidate brings advanced stakeholder engagement capabilities, strong commercial and early phase execution acumen, and the ability to proactively coordinate approvals, navigate complex stakeholder dynamics, and streamline cross functional alignment to accelerate major project decisions. They should also demonstrate skill in shaping execution strategies ahead of traditional phases, driving portfolio level insights, and collaborating across the enterprise to secure and enable seamless end to end delivery.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement an execution strategy that effectively leverages and builds upon the execution plans and strategies of individual project teams (e.g., Power Development, Capital Projects). Understands the requirements and contributions of critical team positions and anticipates and meets the need of key stakeholders. Oversee portfolio-level reporting and serve as the primary voice of the program to internal Executive management (OCE members, committees) and the Board of Directors.
2. Maintain a deep understanding of the business cases of key portfolio projects and ensure that stakeholder value is delivered through rigorous execution. Develop a thorough working knowledge of related commercial agreement(s) between the Utility, customers, and others, as well as develop and maintain effective relationships with customer and stakeholder representatives. In certain instances, support and/or lead negotiations with key stakeholders (e.g. landowners, customers).
3. Analyze operational needs and identify areas to align resources, power management, and vendor negotiation, etc. Develop cost-effective strategies for growth expansion and upgrades, including front-end project development strategies and business cases that support internal approvals. Must be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and first-of-a-kind situations that emerge due to the scale and complexity of major growth opportunities.
4. Develop critical relationships with key stakeholders and project contributors. Specifically, must be able to possess or create effective relationships with the Operating Company President and CEO, the OPCO Lead team, key leaders in Operations (Power Development, Capital Projects, Power Delivery, SPO), and other central support organizations (Finance, Legal, Regulatory Services).
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate strategic plans into operational initiatives. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to foster collaboration and support strategic initiatives. Lead and mentor cross-functional teams involved in strategic planning and execution. Present strategic recommendations to senior leadership with clear rational and compelling evidence
6. Develop long-term capacity planning strategies to ensure sufficient infrastructure is available to meet future business requirements.
7. Partner with execution leaders across OPCOs and other Customer projects to ensure consistent use of best practices and sharing of lessons learned.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's in Business, Management, Finance, Engineering, or similar degree. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
At least 10 years’ experience in project development and management experience.
