JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE:
The Project Controls Manager leads the preparation of cost, schedule and risk deliverables for large, complex power projects in the development phase. Works with Project Team and contract partners to develop cost and schedule estimates, facilitate internal and external approvals and support preparation of regulatory and permitting applications. Works directly with Project Teams to ensure alignment with Entergy’s stage gate process and to ensure that proper project controls tools and processes are implemented.
Leads the risk assessment process to ensure project and program-specific risks are captured. Performs qualitative and quantitative risk assessment (QRA) and associated contingency estimate development and approval. Supports project business case development and lessons learned process to meet or exceed Entergy's stage gate process requirements and project management standards.
Provides direct oversight, coaching and support to Project Controls Specialist and Cost Analyst throughout project development. Integrates with and supports Project Management team as needed to ensure successful project development. Ensures comprehensive project cost, schedule, and risk controls are implemented on Entergy projects and ensures projects have reliable cost and schedule estimates. Ensures contract agreements reflect project controls requirements. Support process enhancement initiatives as required.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with the project manager and other project team members to identify, characterize and document project risks in a risk register and supports mitigation plan development.
- Provides guidance in the various disciplines of project management and control by applying fundamental schedule and cost control techniques.
- Supports the development and maintenance of project schedules, plans, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Provides analysis of contractor schedule data to identify key project issues.
- Takes direction from and provides support to project leadership to ensure the quality of cost, schedule and risk management processes.
- Work is performed in both an office setting and in field conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management (or related field) OR 8 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.
Minimum Experience:
- 6 years minimum capital project management and/or project control experience. Utility capital project experience preferred.
- Desired: 10+ years of experience in management and control of large, complex capital projects with an owner, EPC or engineering firm.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience in the management and control of large, complex capital projects
- Superior knowledge of the fundamentals of scheduling, cost control, and risk management
- Superior knowledge of scheduling software packages and related analytics
- Superior skills with spreadsheet based analytic
- Knowledge of project and construction management fundamentals
- Oracle Primavera P6
