Job Summary/Purpose
The focus of this position is to deliver real options in the form of power generation and energy storage projects that support the corporation’s stated sustainability goals of reducing carbon emissions. Develop large projects or programs of projects. Manage the development and delivery of projects and/or programs to which he or she is assigned, with a focus on projects that can achieve project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. This position is directly responsible for the management and oversight of all front-end loading stages of utility scale renewable and hydrogen fuel project development and effective hand-off to Capital Projects for successful execution.
Applicant is a leader and a strong advocate for the partnering process with key stakeholders including internal/external support groups across Entergy and contractors. This individual is responsible for the leadership needs of his/her cross-functional team, technology understanding and experience, and building an effective relationship with key internal individuals as well as externally, where applicable. Manages risks to ensure risks are identified and mitigated.
- Develops a powerful project development team that is focused on delivering power generation and storage projects that enable the enterprise to meet the stated sustainability commitments. Understands the requirements and contributions of critical team positions and that of the key stakeholders.
- Understands the roles of the Utility and regulators in project development and viability. Works closely with the regulatory functions to support the requirement of receiving the necessary certifications. Manages the development of the project vision and execution philosophy, along with deliverables necessary to progress a project through the Stage Gate Process.
- Utilizes Commercial Expertise to solidify commercial agreements and delivers successfully negotiated contracts with the partnership of key stakeholders.
Supports and Develops the future plans for execution on the construction of Natural Gas Fueled Power Stations to deliver on sustainability goals and regulatory obligations. - Develops critical relationships with key stakeholders and project contributors; providing clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management, that allows incumbent to work systematically and integrate projects with the wider Entergy.
Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with Company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on the project. - Full understanding of the contractual aspects of projects and the need to create a contracting strategy that delivers superior economic performance and that can be executed safely, with high quality while delivering cost and schedule certainty. Support and/or lead contract negotiations for contracts and fulfill duties as contract manager, as needed.
- Constantly works effectively to negotiate and resolve contract challenges. Utilizes their relationship with Supply Chain to assure the effective development of projects.
- This position is required to support enterprise-wide DIB initiatives across the project team.
- Mentorship and development of their team and the individual team members. Assures that the IDPs of each team member is complete and moving forward.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- At least 10 years’ experience in capital projects development and management experience. Power Generation project development experience is preferred
- Functional Knowledge: Requires broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories, and practices.
- Business Expertise: Applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across sub-functions.
- Problem Solving: Leads through subordinate managers of managers; executes functional business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategy. Understands the role of Power Balance and its critical role in making Matrix Organizations work. Effectively facilitates and assures that Matrix Organizations work.
