Job Summary/Purpose:

Responsible for developing, implementing and managing improvement projects, and/or provide diagnostic subject matter expertise to enhance the overall reliability, efficiency and safety of the plant. The Technical Support Specialist at Lewis Creek is primarily responsible for the Process Safety Management program relating to the Anhydrous Ammonia System. This role is also responsible for the management of all activities in relation to the Lewis Creek Reservoir Dam and Spillway. Other duties will include project and contract management as deemed necessary by Plant Management and Entergy.

 Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Process Safety Management Coordinator (PSMC):

• The PSMC shall ensure employees are involved in the PSM implementation.

• The PSMC shall ensure the process safety information for the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) is accurate and maintained. The PSMC shall ensure the PHA is reviewed every five years, and the review is managed by the AIMMS process.

• The PSMC shall ensure that procedures necessary for the operation and maintenance of the anhydrous ammonia system are completed and available for use.

• The PSMC shall ensure that all necessary employees/contractors are trained on the operation, maintenance, and hazards of the anhydrous ammonia system. The PSCM should develop or assist development of the training for the anhydrous ammonia system.

• The PSMC shall ensure that contractors do not perform maintenance on the anhydrous ammonia system unless they are properly informed of the hazards of anhydrous ammonia, the contractor is qualified to perform the work, and the contractor has an acceptable safety program as defined by the Site Safety Coordinator.

• The PSMC shall ensure the mechanical integrity of the anhydrous ammonia system is maintained through the use of the Preventative Maintenance program and non-routine work through the Corrective Maintenance program located in AIMMS.

• The PSMC shall ensure that any anhydrous ammonia system design changes are approved by the appropriate engineering resources. Changes shall be documented in AIMMS.

• The PSMC shall ensure that procedures are in place to address any incidents that could have resulted in a catastrophic release of anhydrous ammonia be investigated.

• The PSMC shall ensure that emergency procedures are in place to address any unwanted release of anhydrous ammonia.

• The PSMC shall ensure that hot work procedures are in place prior to performing any hot work on the anhydrous ammonia system.

• The PSMC shall ensure that the anhydrous ammonia system is audited every three years to prevent a catastrophic release of anhydrous ammonia. 

Dam and Spillway Coordinator (DSC):

• The Dam and Spillway Coordinator shall be the subject matter expert on all items relating to the structural integrity of the Dam and Spillway.

• The DSC shall ensure that all requirements are met to stay within the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) guidelines as it pertains to inspections, permits, Emergency Action Plans, and all other compliance requirements.

• The DSC shall be responsible for addressing all maintenance and safety concerns at the dam and appurtenant structures identified during inspections conducted by TCEQ or the owner.

• The DSC shall ensure that necessary maintenance, repairs, alterations, or modifications are initiated and completed in a timely manner following any inspection.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Technical Support Specialist shall also be responsible for all other assignments deemed necessary by plant management and Entergy. 

  • Contract management, project management, and outage support are examples of assignments to be expected.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum education required of the position: 

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.

• Desired: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or B.S. Degree in Science in a technical field.

Minimum experience required of the position:

• 6+ years of power plant or relevant technical experience is preferred.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:

• Proficiency in all applications of the Microsoft Toolkit. Must possess good computer skills. Ability to work independent of direct supervision. Good communication skills are also required. Duties often require call outs and work after normal hours. Be able to keep records and reports.

Working Conditions/Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:

• As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
