JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Capital Project Manager within the Power Generation (PGEN) Project Management Organization leads the planning, development, and execution of large capital projects across Entergy’s generation fleet, with a focus on solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and capacity‑uprate initiatives. This role is responsible for delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary projects safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets while ensuring technical quality, strong stakeholder alignment, and compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote safe behavior and adherence to safety rules; lead the team to establish leading indicators so safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation.
- Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals.
- Supports procurement activities including bid evaluations, vendor selection, and negotiation of project contracts.
- Lead the project team to develop and execute assignments in accordance with the applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies, and processes. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles.
- Conduct risk identification and mitigation planning, including cost, schedule, technical, environmental, and regulatory risks.
- Direct development and oversight of the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
- Coordinate with functional departments to achieve corporate standards and budget/timeline requirements. Turn over completed equipment/systems to Operations with documentation, training, and instructions.
- Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate Process (SGP) and coordinate activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP deliverables including Project Execution Plans, cost estimates, project schedules, risk registers, and lessons learned.
- Acts as Contract Manager for large EPC contracts and other contractual agreements. Monitors contractor(s) performance in project safety, scope, schedule, cost, quality of work, contract change request and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Maintains strong project controls, including progress tracking, change management, and timely reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide clear, timely, and accurate status reports and presentations. Identify issues that could impact performance; make timely decisions and escalate matters beyond authority promptly.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders; negotiate contracts; oversee procurement and vendor selection; monitor contractor performance to ensure quality and adherence to expectations.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement; mentor project managers and team members; use project management tools/technology to organize, track, and report progress; communicate plans, progress, and results to stakeholders including senior leadership; coordinate handoffs and process alignment across departments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
- 10+ years’ experience managing capital projects in power generation, utilities, industrial facilities, or related sectors.
- 10+ years of experience in large-scale capital project management is preferred.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
- Experience with reviewing, executing, and managing large EPC contracts.
- Knowledge of processes and key performance indicators for capital projects process planning and asset management.
- Strong contract negotiation, conflict resolution, problem solving, team building, interpersonal and group communication skills.
- Planning/Organization/Time Management skills
- Project risk identification, mitigation, and management skills.
- Ability to influence and motivate others.
- Written report and presentation proficiency; strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with project controls and earned value management (EVM); ability to interpret cost reports and performance metrics.
- Advanced scheduling skills using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Experience with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), commissioning/turnover, and change management.
- Willingness and ability to travel to plant and project sites as needed.

Desired: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
