This position will be filled with the title of Mgr, Utility Learning and Development.


Job Summary/Purpose

Oversees existing programs and strategies for employee learning and development in utility operations. Leads development of learning strategies for new systems, processes, or programs as they are introduced to the organization. Ensures employees have the knowledge and skills required to effectively perform in their jobs. Partners with learning and development groups and other business leaders across the enterprise to drive meaningful leadership development throughout the organization. 


The position requires experience with multiple and innovative approaches to micro-learning and development, strong communication skills, utility business acumen, and the ability to lead change.  The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of operational, financial, or regulatory activities of a regulated utility. 


Job Duties/Responsibilities

Lead the design and develop the learning & development strategy, from needs assessment through impact measurement.


Analyze data and research trends to ensure creative solutions are continuously integrated into the utility’s learning & development strategy.


Partner with other learning and development groups to develop an integrated strategy to maintain key competencies, build the leadership pipeline, and support evolving business needs.


Use adult learning and instructional design principles in creating multiple format learning solutions for employees at all levels and locations of the organization.


Remain abreast of developments in storm restoration techniques, reliability improvement efforts, and safety initiatives within the distribution business.


Enable change management efforts and organizational planning within utility operations.


Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

BS degree in technical field, psychology, or equivalent experience; preferred Masters in Leadership Development, Psychology, Organizational Development, or other related field.


Minimum experience required of the position

5 years’ experience in leadership development and/or organizational development; preferably in large company setting.

5 years’ related experience in a regulated utility or relevant experience.


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Familiar with various theories of adult learning.
Ability to develop strategic relationships with senior leadership.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Travel requirement outside of immediate area (approximately 30%).


Working Conditions

As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.  Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
