JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
This position, in the Operational Readiness group, performs and analyzes operational planning studies, both steady-state and dynamic. This includes updating operational planning models, coordinating Transmission and Generation outage plans, forecasting loads, and updating operating guides and procedures.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform steady-state load flow analysis in the Operational horizon.
- Perform updates to operational planning models.
- Perform transient stability and voltage stability studies. Familiarity with the PSE/E software package and other state of the art load flow and stability packages, such as Power World, VSAT, TSAT and SSAT is essential
- Provide technical support to the Transmission Control Center (TCC) on steady-state and dynamic power system issues
- Interface with load serving entities, regulatory agencies, reliability councils and other transmission providers.
- Represent Entergy on industry wide technical working groups.
- Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution
- Degree in Engineering Technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from four-year accredited institution, with PE may be considered
- Preferred:
- BS Electrical Engineering Degree with emphasis on power systems
Minimum Experience:
- Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Engineer II: at least 2 - 4 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Engineer III: at least 4 - 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Sr Engineer: at least 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Preferred:
- At least 5 years of experience in modeling, system analysis and planning of power systems
- Experience in a power utility or a consulting company
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles
- Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area
- Consistently demonstrates good engineering judgment
- Good leadership skills
- Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent math skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software
- Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures
- Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards
- Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base

- Preferred:
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
- Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development
- Skills in engineering analysis, problem solving, and condition assessment
