Job Summary/Purpose
The Senior Manager, Capital Projects (Resilience) is responsible for leading Entergy’s Accelerated Resilience efforts. Primarily this is comprised of Transmission and Distribution projects across ENO(New Orleans), ELL(Louisiana), and ETI(Texas) Operating Companies. The Sr. Mgr. will lead teams of direct employees as well as a large contingent of contract partners to ensure we deliver the program while meeting our goals. Goals are centered around safe execution of the portfolios, meeting regulatory commitments(financial/schedule), performing requisite portfolio and project planning, and ensuring resource adequacy. The candidate will also need to be an influential leader with the knowledge and skills to manage execution of a fast paced high-value program with schedule and cost accuracy to achieve annual spend/closing targets. This role will require managing relations while upholding accountability for performance expectation. The leader will be expected to drive cost efficiency and track cost/schedule performance efficiency across all program parameters.
This position will operate in a matrixed environment where close coordination with Construction, Design, Controls and our contract partners is essential to the programs success. Additionally, it provides direct management and support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the various Resilience Portfolios.
- Build and manage partnerships with internal/external resources to manage and deliver program results.
- Oversee the Resilience capital portfolio, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of Managers and project managers responsible for the execution of capital projects within the portfolio.
- Responsible to ensure we program scope, budget, schedule, and risk objectives to deliver superior results.
- Track program costs across contractors to driver cost competitiveness and to ensure the best cost for customers is obtained. Establish, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of program execution and portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, finance, and operations teams to prioritize capital projects based on business needs and available resources.
- Ensure internal/external compliance with all applicable regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols throughout project execution.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in project management processes.
- Provide guidance and support to direct reports on technical, operational, and strategic aspects of the program.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and opportunities. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the delivery of services and materials within program expectations.
- Develop and implement project management frameworks, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and consistency. Monitors contract partners performance around project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Provide coaching to ensure safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules. Establish/track leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user.
- Mentor and build organization technical knowledge to achieve program results.
- Develop manager to ensure we execute projects in accordance with the applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies and processes. Ensures that team members fulfill their responsibilities as required of their roles.
- Provide leadership, oversight, and coordination to various internal and external organizations providing services for distribution and transmission projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including but limited to, distribution and transmission engineering, Right of Way, and construction suppliers.
- Work with supply chain to enact sourcing strategies.
- Responsible for interfacing with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies regarding specific project needs where appropriate
- Fulfill role as the 'Contract Manager' or the 'Owner's Representative' as defined in the project contract. Administrates the contract and issues formal correspondence to Contractors in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines.
- Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the resilience portfolios. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.
- Ensures the project team develops and executes the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate process and coordinates activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.).
- Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations to management. Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority of capability of the Senior Manager to resolve.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the utility industry with experience in major capital project planning, execution, and control.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience.

- Engaged leader with a history of successfully delivering capital projects/portfolios. Solid understanding of project management fundamentals and stage-gate processes focused on delivering T&D projects with cost, schedule and scope certainty.
