JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Provides first-level supervision of Telecommunications technicians; is expected to provide technical leadership on both projects and problem resolution; and is expected to provide hands-on technical support as needed, including emergency system outage support, to meet goals and objectives.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prioritize work assignments, review and approve time sheets and vacation requests.
- Ensure adherence to company work and safety rules.
- Monitor SLA performance and customer satisfaction, including participation in the Telecom 24 hour on-call rotation.
- Perform site surveys, verify material receipt, schedule crews, verify project documentation.
- Coordinate, provide, and/or assist with the technical support of Entergy owned PBX, Microwave Radio (digital and analog), 800Mhz SmartZone System, Fiber Optic Transport, Digital Multiplex, and ancillary equipment; requisition materials and test equipment needed to provide system support; recommend technical training needed to provide system support.
- Spend 30% of time performing hands on tool work, supporting the installation and maintenance of Entergy's Telecommunications equipment. Establish the technical leadership to solve the most complex problems and most demanding projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum experience required of the position
A minimum of four years of experience in providing PBX system support.
Experience in supporting one or more of the following PBX systems is preferred: Nortel Meridian 1; Nortel Communications Server 1000; Rolm 9006 Mod 80.
Experience in provisioning and testing DS-3 and DS-1 circuits.
Experience in supporting Motorola 800 MHz trunked two-way radio systems, fiber optic transmission systems, and microwave radio systems is preferred. Experience in leading Telecom support activities.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Formal training in PBX system support is required. Training on one or more of the following systems is preferred: Nortel Meridian 1; Nortel Succession; Nortel Communications Server 1000; Rolm 9006 Mod 80 Cisco Communications. Formal training in fiber transport system support is required. Training on one or more of the following systems is preferred: Alcatel 1648; Nortel Optera 3400/3500; Adtran 6100. Formal training in Motorola trunked two-way radio system support is desired. Formal training in Alcatel digital microwave radio system support is desired. Formal training in digital multiplex system support is desired. Applicant must possess good customer service skills and have the ability to interface with customers and supervision using good communications skills, both verbal and written. Applicant must present a professional appearance; possess attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Be able to maintain a valid Driver's License, CCA/PEL access card or other applicable required license, background check, or ID.
