JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Performs a variety of routine and standard tasks coordinating disposal and shipment of oil filled equipment for approximately 5,000 – 7,000 devices per year.  Must be able to safely operate forklifts of all sizes to load devices on a salvage trailer.  Is point of contact for scheduling salvage pick up and completing all regulatory paperwork per DOT/EPA requirements. Conducts testing and repair of hot stick and ground equipment as requested in the Texas and West Louisiana service territory.  Completes reprogramming of equipment necessary to maintain the electric grid.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates condition of oil filled equipment and makes repair or disposal determinations.
  • Prepares equipment for transportation at multiple Texas and West Louisiana network locations.
  • Determines if on site salvage load is cost effective and completes all steps to support.
  • Acts as the Environmental Champion for the West End Yard location.
  • Inspects and operates powered industrial trucks and crane to safely handle oil filled electrical equipment.
  • Properly completes Hazardous Waste Manifest and continuation sheets to meet DOT and EPA requirements.
  • Test Hot Sticks and Grounds at the repair shop and network locations.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations to meet daily goals.
  • Must be able to drive assigned company vehicle to Texas and West Louisiana Network locations.
  • Storm role includes identification and preparation of devices for repair or disposal throughout the Entergy service territory.
  • Travel up to 25% per year

Minimum education required of the position

High school degree or equivalent. 

Complete training at Little Rock and Hammond Repair Shops.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Familiar with nomenclature of electrical materials, able to perform basic math calculations, knowledge of DOT and environmental regulations and requirements.

Must be able to operate powered industrial trucks and small cranes.

Must have valid driver’s license.
