Job Summary/Purpose

 

The ability to perform all aspects of the Lineworker job function including but not limited to the day-to-day aspects of maintaining and building overhead and underground electrical facilities. Responsible for leading other lineworkers and performing aerial and underground work including utility distribution construction tasks. Working with a Live Safe mindset in all tasks; ensuring to mitigate hazards where identified.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

 

1. Ability to perform and lead overhead tasks, including energized primary cover up to 34,500 volts.
2. Ability to understand transformer theories including bank installations, tap settings, and identifying and constructing multiple secondary voltage applications.
3. Ability to learn and perform advanced primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications.
4. Ability to perform advanced Lineworker tasks on Regulators, capacitors banks, Alternate Switching Scheme, and Intelliruptor devices.
5. Ability to lift, rig and tie knots to set up, construct, frame poles, and change out cross-arms; identifying materials and understanding distribution construction specifications
6. Ability to build, lead, and maintain underground residential distribution circuits, including but not limited to, prepare/operate pad mount switchgear, install and troubleshoot URD circuits and switching/tagging URD primary cable
7. Ability to learn three phase primary tasks to include safe operation and removal/installation of single and three phase reclosers, changing out insulators, and installing and replacing Gang Operated Airbrake Switches (GOABs)
8. Leading and Maintaining a well-organized jobsite to ensure the surroundings are safe
9. Learning, completing, and performing (as necessary) all mandated training, such as but not limited to, First Aid, CPR, etc.

EEI Testing:

One way that Entergy has found to identify and assess the abilities and skills needed for certain jobs is through pre-employment testing.
