JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Entergy’s Human Resources Operations Group is seeking a college student who is currently enrolled in a degree program for Human Resources or a related field with a desire to gain experience in Human Resources to work as a long-term intern in our HR Services Department.  The Human Resources Intern will participate in HR activities in support of the department and learn the basics of the administration of Company programs and processes involving employee documentation maintenance and various types of leave and application of federal and state laws.

 

This posting is for one student intern position that is long-term in nature (2+ semesters) and is available to work 20-35 hours per week.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responding to request for employee files
  • Scanning documents into database and entering files into vendor database
  • Maintenance of employee records / files
  • Processing of daily mail (USPS and email)
  • Assisting with special projects, as needed
  • Run standard reports as needed in multiple systems (HRIS and Payroll)
  • Assists with internal and external communication, such as letters, memos, and documents
  • Maintain confidentiality of files and file information at all times
  • Assemble and mail packets of information for employee filing for Leave Programs.

 

The Intern program is open to students currently pursuing a BA or BS in HR or a related degree at an accredited university. Program is intended for successful candidates to be employed continuously through graduation and work as possible during school and summer. Would be eligible to apply for available full-time/regular jobs within Entergy for which they are qualified.

 

Job Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a related field with a desire to begin a career in Human Resources; have a minimum of 3.0 overall GPA and demonstrated computer skills to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular, Outlook, Word, and Excel.  Must be a Self-starter with strong analytical skills with great understanding of customer satisfaction and teamwork.  Candidate must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as good organization and time management skills.  The ability to follow instructions and work against tight time deadlines is important.
