Job Summary/Purpose

Participates in the execution of the Business Expansion and Retention (BR&E) programs, activities and policies to improve the economy of Entergy's service territory and growth.

 

Goals:

  • Develop a coordinated regional approach to assisting existing companies in the Entergy Mississippi, Inc (EMI) 45 County Region.
  • Ensure EMI is informed and a respected source for solutions to issues impacting business expansion including but not limited to comprehensive understanding of barriers and opportunities for growth, operational efficiencies and identifying solutions that will enhance business expansion and job creation.
  • Manage relationships and collaborate with strategic state and regional partners to develop innovative business solutions.
  • Coordinate with EMI staff to provide successful project leadership and assistance for companies seeking to expand or ensuring retention in the Entergy Mississippi service territory.
  • Effectively communicate Entergy’s enhanced suite of service offerings to the business community. Engage entrepreneurs and economic driver companies to identify opportunities to leverage resources that will support business expansion and partnerships to increase retention and expansion.
     

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect Relationships – Focus on understanding and responding to the needs of companies considering investment in the EMI region. Leverage strong listening and problem-solving skills to meet the needs of prospective clients. As needed, lead or assist in project efforts to effectively interface with business executives.
  • Solution Development, Communication and Execution – Facilitate connection and develop solutions for companies that provide a comprehensive, compelling case for investing in the EMI service territory and/or the state of Mississippi. Successfully prepare and communicate solutions with strategic partners and to the company. This includes leveraging well-structured documents, presentations and proposals, as needed. Ensure that external communications align with Entergy’s overall marketing and branding efforts.
  • Business and Regional Expertise – Develop a high-level expertise in the strengths, assets, programs and connections that the EMI and Mississippi business ecosystem can provide to a company to enhance their growth strategy. This includes: applicable sites and buildings, relevant regional and community assets, cost advantages, state and local tax advantages, state and local incentive programs, logistics/transportation assets, workforce availability, workforce development programs, etc. Apply this expertise in developing customized solutions for company projects.
  • Identify Growth Opportunities/Barriers – Identifies potential growth opportunities with existing industry as well as red flags for distressed companies by organizing regional and local in-person and virtual meetings with local economic developers and existing industry plant management.
  • Internal Reporting, Communication and Collaboration – Communicate and report project related management activities through emails, written reports, verbal reports and other methods. Utilize consistent, diligent approach for reporting. Provide project updates as needed to EMI team members, investors and partners.
  • Support EMI’s Program of Work – Provide collaborative support to enhance achievement of EMI’s program of work and Business Development goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Performance Skills and Individual Competencies –

Education and Previous Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (required)
  • Advanced degree preferred (but not required)
  • Graduate of Community Development Institute or Economic Development Institute (but not required)

 

Experience Desired:

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work within a team environment, including economic development organizations, chamber of commerce, governmental and non-profit organizations.
  • Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software (Microsoft: Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of business principles with an industrial mindset, including financials, supply chain, sales, marketing, real estate, procurement, workforce development and strategic business planning.
