***This position will be hired within the levels of an Engineer I, II, III, Senior OR Senior Lead, based on skills/qualifications.***
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Central Design Engineering provides high quality, cost effective, on schedule design services for the Entergy Nuclear Fleet. Design Projects, which resides in the Central Design Engineering Department, is responsible for providing requested modification packages to the Nuclear Fleet. Modification design control is maintained through effective configuration management of design output documents (e.g., specifications, calculations, drawings, test requirements and procedures).
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
•Prepare cost-effective modifications as assigned to improve plant performance and reliability.
•Prepare engineering products consistent with defined standards, procedures and regulatory guidelines to ensure the site’s design and licensing basis is maintained
•Assist in the solutions to issues that impact safe, reliable operations and propose process changes that improve overall efficiency.
•Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering, and other fleet organizations.
•Manage engineering work assignments to ensure the design service provided is meeting department and organizational needs.
•Communicate to all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing, technical information, concepts, and ideas throughout the engineering product development.
•Attend training and maintain qualifications necessary to perform required group function.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other closely related scientific discipline / physical science generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Engineer / Technical Specialist level.)
Desired: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
Minimum experience required of the position
Engineer I: 0+ years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent
Engineer II: 2+ years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent
Engineer III: 4+ years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer Sr: 6+ years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer Sr. Lead: 10+ years of experinece in nuclear power design, operations or equivalent, depending on engineering level.
Desired: Electrical I&C Experience Highly Preferred
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills. Proficiency with current computer business applications.
Desired:
Functional Knowledge - Requires understanding and application of procedures and concepts within ELECT/I&C discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines.
•Experience with preparing and/or reviewing power plant electrical drawings, calculations and equipment specifications.
•Experience with plant electrical power system analysis software such as ETAP and EDISON.
•Experience analyzing relay coordination and working with Time-Current Coordination curves (TCCs) and arc-flash hazard assessments.
•Experience with selection and application of electrical components including motors, transformers, protective relaying, breakers, inverters, large lead storage batteries, battery chargers and inverters
•Prior performance of design related calculations (voltage drop, breaker coordination, load study analysis, instrument uncertainty setpoints, etc.)
•Perform Battery sizing calculations
•Experience modeling motors and doing transient analysis for plant equipment.
•Familiarity with instrument specifications, instrument data sheets, calibration sheets
•Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s, schematics, ladder logic
•Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems, HMI, and PLC applications
•Digital modification experience in commercial nuclear power (Hardware/software database point mapping, Requirement traceability, Software testing
•Familiarity with EMI/RFI analysis
•Familiarity with Cyber Security requirements and solutions in commercial nuclear power
•Understanding of license basis considerations (UFSAR, Technical Specifications) and regulatory requirements (e.g., Reg. Guide 1.97) as they intersect with instrumentation
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Desired: SRO license or certification; Professional Engineering license.
