Job Summary/Purpose

  • The Senior Project Manager supports the execution of key initiatives, programs, and priorities across the operations organization.
  • This role ensures projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered effectively by connecting teams, tracking progress, and maintaining clear communication between leaders and stakeholders.
  • The Senior Project Manager works closely with leadership to align deliverables, prepare materials for meetings and events (both virtual and in-person), and monitor timelines, budgets, and risks.
  • This position requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple efforts simultaneously.
  • The role is highly collaborative and focused on ensuring smooth execution of projects that advance departmental and enterprise objectives.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

                               

  1. Strategic Partnership and Execution
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leadership, providing insight, guidance, and support on strategic priorities.
  • Coordinates the execution of enterprise-wide initiatives and ensures alignment with organizational goals and priorities. Develops clear, concise communications for leadership updates and executive presentations.

 

  1. Operational Leadership
  • Drives day-to-day execution of executive priorities, ensuring progress on high-impact projects and initiatives.
  • Works across departments to remove barriers, mediate issues, and align stakeholders toward shared objectives.

 

  1. Project Oversight and Accountability
  • Leads complex, cross-functional projects from planning through implementation.
  • Defines success metrics, monitors performance, and ensures accountability for results that advance the organization’s strategic vision and operational targets.

 

  1. Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Builds strong relationships across business units to enhance collaboration, ensure effective information flow, and streamline execution.
  • Identifies and addresses gaps in coordination, creating efficiencies that enable teams to deliver on strategic outcomes.

 

  1. Performance Monitoring and Risk Management
  • Tracks progress of major initiatives, analyzing performance data and identifying risks or barriers to success.
  • Recommends solutions and mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum and organizational health.

 

  1. Executive Communications and Presentations
  • Develops and delivers executive-level presentations and communication materials to support board, leadership, and company-wide discussions.
  • Ensures messaging reflects strategic alignment and drives clarity across the enterprise.

 

Minimum Requirements                                                                       

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or other related fields of study from an accredited four-year institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred

 

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Experience managing large-scale projects and initiatives while integrating a wide variety of stakeholder interests into actionable plans and policies.
  • 3-5 years of Operations management, project management or financial management experience.
  • Experience utilizing exemplary presentation and communication skills to affect change across groups of diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing strategic agendas and executing large scale meetings, forums and conferences across multiple levels of leadership.
  • Experience in union environment and involvement in labor-management strategies is a plus.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Broad knowledge of the electric power industry with a focus on distribution operations, generation, and transmission, project management, budget and cost management disciplines, safety, quality, compliance and regulation.  
  • Strong financial acumen and managing budget.
  • Maintains a work environment to act with a focus on the future, is adaptable, overcomes resistance to change and executes with a sense of urgency to be successful today and within the anticipated future business climate.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with business leaders. Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders with skill and diplomacy.
  • Determines strategic business direction to best meet clients evolving needs. Ensures continued service excellence by evaluating and analyzing departmental decisions that impact ability to meet client needs.
