JOB SUMMARY:

Manages capital projects that are typically less than $30M. Works to ensure projects are delivered with cost and schedule certainty. Identifies, manages, and mitigates project risks. Works to ensure process alignment and proper project controls are implemented. Works to ensure costs are managed; change control is established and controlled; and that contingency is properly controlled.  Manages the development and delivery of capital projects to which he or she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. Provides management and support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle.  Works closely with business unit contractor representatives to achieve capital project objectives.

 

Provides oversight for the strategic initiatives in the Technology Development and Analytics group. This includes the asset monitoring technology roadmap and providing oversight for the development and execution of the activities to implement the roadmap and operationalize the ongoing evaluation and implementation of technology opportunities on the grid.  Works directly with initiative leaders and teams to ensure progress is on track and meeting the defined deliverables and intent of the initiative.  Serves in a coordination role for requested deliverables that span across both transmission and distribution. The position will also coordinate the annual review and assessment of the strategic initiatives the group is working on to identify updates to the strategic plan. Responsible for the development of executive level briefings on scope, progress and benefits of the strategic initiatives and reliability improvement progress. 

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project.
  • Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.         
  • Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals.
  • Works with the appropriate Entergy management to assignment appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team.
  • Prepares contract and approves requisitions, change orders, etc. and process invoices.   
  • Leads the project team to develop and execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies and processes.
  • Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles.
  • Navigates the project through associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.).
  • Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work.          
  • Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and execute the project in adherence with this plan. Establishes and maintains project documentation.
  • Coordinates the efforts of all project participants, including consultants and contractors.
  • Ensures previous projects' Lessons Learned and applicable industry experience is incorporated into the project execution plan.
  • Manages the project in line with the project budget.
  • Ensures project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards.              
  • Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management.
  • Prepares reports and presentations to management.
  • Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance.
  • Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority or capability to resolve.
  • Coordinates with all functional departments as required to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and to achieve project budget and timeline including CC&A, and Supply Chain.
  • Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements. 
  • Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk by identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Manages and oversees the strategic initiative plan.
  • Leads assigned cross-functional project teams to develop and implement strategic plans for the organization and in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, policies and processes.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.               

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in Distribution, Substation or Transmission required.
