Job Summary/Purpose

Provides first line supervision of the Chemistry supervisors responsible for Chemists and control activities at an Entergy Nuclear plant. May provide first line supervision to Chemistry Specialists as well.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures Chemistry activities are performed within regulatory and procedural guidelines. Develops and maintains procedures and documentation that govern Chemistry activities.
  • Reviews departmental work assignments to ensure staff are responding appropriately to departmental and organizational needs.
  • Coordinates activities with other departments to minimize plant downtime, ensure state and local permits are followed and minimize radiation exposure.
  • Assists in department budget preparation and controls department costs through maximization of staff productivity and tracking expenditures within budget parameters.
  • Represents the department at plant meetings to discuss and resolve matters effecting nuclear plant safety, industrial safety, radiological safety, and environmental conditions.
  • Interfaces with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations, technical degrees or Equivalent Experience. (Equivalent Experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Manager Level).

 

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 8 years experience in nuclear power plant chemistry, operations, construction, maintenance, engineering or radiation protection, production, or equivalent technical experience in the Chemistry Area.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Technical proficiency in Chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.

4.4 Professional-Technical

The on-site professional-technical groups shall include individuals (group leaders) with the following qualifications in the indicated disciplines. A single individual may be qualified and perform in more than one discipline. Suitable organizational depth shall exist to provide for an absence of the principal.

Chemistry and Radiochemistry.

At the time of initial core loading or appointment to the position, whichever is later, the responsible person shall have five years experience in chemistry of which one year shall be in radiochemistry at an operating nuclear power plant. Two years of this five years experience shall be related technical training. A maximum of four years of this five years experience may be fulfilled by related technical or academic training."

 

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

  • SRO or certification on BWR or PWR (desired). Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.4.3 Chemistry and Radiochemistry.
  • 5 years of chemistry experience, 1 of which shall be in radiochemistry at an operating nuclear power plant. A minimum of 2 years of this 5 years shall be related technical training. Related technical training or academic training may fulfill a maximum of 4 of this 5 years experience.
