Job Summary/Purpose

Provides first line supervision of the RP Support supervisors responsible for radiation protection and control activities at an Entergy Nuclear plant.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides overall direction, leadership, planning and performance of radiation protection support activities.
  • Provides oversight and maintains the RP Support budget at the direction of Radiation Protection Manager to ensure achievement of budget goals while ensuring safe, reliable, cost-efficient operation
  • Interfaces with Department Managers to determine how RP Support resources can best be applied to improve performance, minimize plant downtime, and radiation exposure.
  • Manages activities in support of nuclear plant sites consistent with regulatory and procedural requirements and litigation minimization need to ensure that Radiological Control activities are conducted in a manner that protects individuals and the agency.
  • Innovate and improve current team practices and processes; solicit and implement solutions.
  • Drives communicating technical Radiation Protection instrumentation, respiratory, and dosimetry information, concepts, and ideas, verbally and in writing.
  • Represents the department at plant meetings to discuss and resolve matters effecting nuclear plant safety, industrial safety, radiological safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Participates in emergency response organization duties.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required for the position

B.S. degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations or Equivalent Experience (Equivalent Experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Manager)

 

Minimum experience required for the position

  • Eight (8) years of experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, radiation protection, or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of supervisory/management experience

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position

Technical proficiency in the RP Support area. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Proficiency with current computer business applications.

ANSI/ANS-3. 1-1978 - 4.3.2 - Supervisors Not Requiring NRC License. At the time of initial core loading or appointment to the position, whichever is later, a supervisor in this category shall have a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in the craft or discipline he supervises.
