Little Rock, AR is the highly preferred location for this role. New Orleans, LA or various locations in TX may be considered. 

 

Job Summary/Purpose:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing the strategic direction of our customer service organization through data management. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with deep expertise in sourcing, moving, transforming, cleaning, and storing data from a variety of sources, formats, and platforms. This role demands a hands-on approach in collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data originating across a variety of channels including live voice, IVR, web, mobile, SMS, email, and upcoming chat interfaces. The Data Engineer will be instrumental in preparing and distributing data for consumption by a team of analysts tasked with delivering actionable insights to drive informed business decisions.      

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities                       

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Management:
    1. Design and maintain robust data processing architectures, ensuring seamless data collection, storage, and processing across all operational channels.
    2. Spearhead the management of analytical studies to tackle complex business issues, enhancing operational efficiency and informing strategic decisions.
    3. Implement best practices in data governance, quality, storage, and manipulation to unlock the full potential of company data.
    4. Enhance data integration and adaptability to accommodate new data streams, employing various tools and techniques for optimal data utilization.
  2. Analytics & Visualization:
    1. Contribute to the analytics roadmap, transforming data usage for decision support and process optimization.
    2. Develop and deploy comprehensive metrics, analytics, and reports, utilizing advanced tools like Power BI, Python, and SQL.
    3. Synthesize complex datasets into user-friendly dashboards and reports, effectively communicating findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    4. Regularly evaluate data sources and methodologies to ensure utmost data integrity and discover significant patterns or insights.

 

Minimum Requirements                                                                                              

Minimum experience required of the position:

Data Engineer I:                                                               

  • 0-1 years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree; in lieu of a degree 4 years of experience in data engineering/data modeling is required
  • At least 2 years in developing and utilizing tools that prepare, extract and manipulate (big) data to create connected datasets (data lake) that can be utilized for analytics purposes preferred.                                                                                                        

 

Data Engineer II:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree in lieu of a degree 6 years of experience in data engineering/data modeling is required
  • At least 4 years in developing and utilizing tools that prepare, extract and manipulate (big) data to create connected datasets (data lake) that can be utilized for analytics purposes preferred.                                                                                                         

 

Data Engineer SR:

  • 4+ years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree in lieu of a degree 8 years of experience in data engineering/data modeling is required
  • 4+ years of experience in data validation or complex data intensive analysis that utilizes (big) data manipulation and processing techniques (SQL, MySQL, Hadoop, Spark etc) to ensure (connected) datasets are of high quality and therefore fit for analysis/reporting purposes.
  • At least 4 years in developing and utilizing tools that prepare, extract and manipulate (big) data to create connected datasets (data lake) that can be utilized for analytics purposes preferred.    

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis within customer service settings, ideally in utilities or a related industry.
  • Advanced knowledge managing relational database management systems, specifically Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong experience in developing ETL pipelines using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Python, and familiarity with big data/cloud databases like Google BigQuery and Snowflake.
  • Expertise in data visualization, particularly with Microsoft PowerBI; Tableau knowledge beneficial.

Professional Skills:

  • Agile methodology understanding, with Jira experience a plus.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and networking capabilities.

Leadership Skills:

  • Foundational knowledge in change management and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Ability to simplify complex data and strategies, aligning departmental strategies with overarching organizational goals.
