Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems.


Develop and maintain design and construction specifications manuals for Entergy’s distribution organization.

Develop and maintain materials and equipment specifications and standards that are used in association with the construction and operation of Entergy’s distribution system.

Perform advanced engineering studies and analysis that may be applied to Entergy’s distribution system. Develop techniques and processes that may be applied by others associated with designing, building, operating, and providing excellent customer service from Entergy’s distribution system.

Possess advanced knowledge of the NESC, NEC, and/or other national codes and standards. Provide opinion and advice associated with national codes and standards.

Follow, study, and develop understanding of new or advancing external industries and technologies and their relationship to Entergy. Consult with and advise both internal and external parties on that relationship.

Advise and consult with field engineering and operations personnel on complex technical matters. 

Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution. Masters desired.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering


Minimum experience required of the position

Sr Engineer - 8+ years experience in an engineering discipline.


Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Sr Engineer - PE or PMP desired.

Staff Engineer - PE Required.  Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Technical mastery of engineering principles.  In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Experience in communication and controls systems. Consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions.  Mentors other engineers and technical professionals.  Good leadership skills. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent math skills. Excellent project management skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.
