Job Title: Manager, Transmission Lines

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for managing all transmission line maintenance, capital renewal/replacement projects, and emergent response activities within the AR transmission grid. This includes providing leadership to direct reports and internal/contract line crews ensuring they are aware of and maintain safe work practices and procedures at all times.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining the safety culture for transmission line employees and contractors and ensuring a safe work environment exists for all assigned employees and contractors.
  • Manage individual contributors, supervisors, including coaching, training, employee development, and effective resource management. Manages contract personnel for transmission line maintenance and inspection contractors, promoting good employee relations, morale and teamwork.
  • Manage engineers that develop transmission line design packages, including calculations, drawings, standards, and engineering evaluations, for capital blanket projects.
  • Ensure work is performed in a team environment by interfacing with transmission engineering staff, transmission CPT personnel, power delivery personnel, generation plant personnel, major accounts representatives and other internal and external customers.
  • Direct response by personnel to address failures and emergency transmission outages. Ensure 24-hour coverage is maintained at all times. Direct root cause analysis and ensure COS/TOMS is updated.
  • Assist Asset Management in development of the annual capital and O&M work plans. Manage the development and implementation of project schedules and ensure they are completed on time, within budget and as designed.
  • Ensure updates and timely closeout of capital projects in PowerPlan.
  • Manage O&M and Capital budgets to agreed upon targets and provide monthly WF updates.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or equivalent work experience (detailed below).

 

Minimum Experience:

  • With a BS degree in Engineering: at least 6 years of transmission related utility experience
  • Without a BS degree in Engineering: at least 10 years of transmission related utility experience


Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Available to work irregular hours and to respond 24 hours a day to system events, outages and emergencies (On a weekly rotation with peers).
  • Working knowledge of transmission lines construction and maintenance standards, safety procedures & policies.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with little direction with a high level of organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of basic computer programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, strong leadership, decision making and follow through skills.
  • Ability to both lead and work in a team environment across multiple disciplines and work groups.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and contract administration policy and procedures.
