Job Summary/Purpose
All members of Entergy’s safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. As a leader, you will be expected to role model the behaviors expected from your team such as timely reporting, accurate documentation, and meeting deadlines. The senior manager will lead, develop, manage, and improve assigned safety and occupational health programs. There will be regular opportunities to demonstrate skills in change management, contract management and communications. This position will also be required to present to leadership the health of the program they are responsible for, and any deficiencies identified along with sustainable solutions to prevent future issues. It will be expected that the senior manager will engage with and advises more junior safety professionals to support their growth and build bench strength within the safety function.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Assists in establishing strategic elements within the safety and health management system to drive sustainable improvement across the organization.
Conduct leadership activities such as work assignments/schedules, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc. in accordance with system policies.
Lead team members through managing the implementation, maintenance, and validation of assigned safety and occupational health management system components.
Lead team members through managing revision processes, stakeholder groups, external vendors, and platforms for assigned management system components.
Liaise with and support business unit safety and operational leadership to lead and influence continuous improvement across Entergy.
Manage assigned programs through data review, observations, and feedback and perform revisions as needed.
Manage applicable processes, resources and contracts associated with safety programs.
Lead and/or participate in internal and external special project teams with the purpose of continuous improvement.
Engage, develop, and maintain relationships with external partners, organizations, and memberships.
Establish and manage work priorities and expectations for the teams reporting to them.
Support and encourage the growth and development of safety professionals across the organization through coaching and mentorship.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor’s Required or equivalent work experience, master’s degree preferred
Minimum experience required of the position
10+ years of industry/safety experience with 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Leadership fundamentals and behaviors.
Ability to effectively coach and mentor.
Thorough understanding of applicable OSHA regulations and industry guidelines.
Ability to develop and set short- and long-term strategic goals to sustain improvement.
Experience working within safety and occupational health management systems (i.e. ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, ANSI/ASSP Z10).
Experience with change management and project management.
Investigation/RCA with tools such as TapRoot, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, Five Why’s, etc.
Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends utilizing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, SAS, etc.
Ability to interact with customers and members of the public in a pleasant and tactful manner.
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
