Entergy’s Transmission Department is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and operating over 15,000 miles of transmission lines across the four-state territory.

Intern Job Description: 

Working in a team environment to assist engineers in day to day activities including but not limited to:

  • Providing support to our transmission line asset management groups across our four-state territory (AR, LA, MS, TX)
  • Performing transmission line designs for grid capital projects(smaller structure and conductor replacements) and emergency failures.
  • Performing material procurement for grid projects.
  • Performing analysis on proposed encroachments from distribution lines, transmission lines, commercial construction projects, gas line, water line, railroads, DOT project, etc. 
  • Supporting transmission planning and relay settings groups in data gathering for special projects.
  • Performing field visits to verify or gather data for designs.
  • Utilizing the following primary design applications: PLS CADD, PLS Pole, and AutoCAD.  With the help of teammates, intern will be responsible for learning to work within these applications. 
  • Utilizing design software to model surveyed field configurations.
  • Validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered and staged for upcoming projects
  • Supporting projects that are in construction.
  • Completion of as-built documentation
  • Transmission Line database management
  • Supporting process improvement and continuous improvement efforts.

Education Requirements:

  • Seeking Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil engineering major.
    • Junior and Senior candidate with graduation dates of May 2025 and beyond preferred.
  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree as indicated above and at minimum classified as a sophomore or beyond.
  • GPA 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher
