Job Summary
The communications specialist will develop and execute strategic advertising campaigns, foster meaningful stakeholder relationships (internal) and help plan and deliver compelling integrated communication campaigns to promote the organization’s brand. This role involves crafting targeted content, managing multi-channel campaigns, engaging diverse internal stakeholders and analyzing performance to ensure alignment with business goals and maximum impact. The specialist will act as a key liaison between the organization, internal clients, its audiences, and its partners to enhance brand visibility, trust and engagement.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Advertising Campaign Development: Work with internal teams and external partners to plan, create and manage advertising campaigns across digital, print and traditional media to drive brand awareness and conversions.
- Content Creation: Develop and review engaging content, including ad copy, social media posts, press releases, blogs, newsletters and multimedia assets, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with internal teams and external partners to help identify and map key stakeholders to incorporate their input into organizational strategies.
- Media Planning & Relations: Partner with internal teams and external agencies to select and negotiate media placements for ads, pitch stories to media outlets and secure coverage to amplify brand messaging as needed.
- Communication Strategy: Design and implement integrated communication plans to engage target audiences, ensuring consistent brand messaging across channels like websites, email, social media, and events.
- Performance Analysis & Optimization: Work with internal teams and external partners to monitor and analyze campaign and engagement metrics using tools like Google Analytics, CRM platforms, or social media analytics to track KPIs (e.g., impressions, click-through rates, stakeholder satisfaction) and optimize strategies for better ROI.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for advertising and engagement initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial goals.
- Event Coordination: Assist internal teams with organizing and promoting events (e.g., product launches, stakeholder workshops, community outreach) that strengthen brand presence and relationships.
- Crisis Management: Support crisis communications to maintain trust and protect brand reputation where appropriate.
- Market & Stakeholder Research: Conduct research on market trends, audience preferences, competitor strategies, and stakeholder needs to inform campaigns and engagement plans. `
- Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, creative, and leadership teams to align advertising, communications and stakeholder efforts with organizational objectives.
- Stay Current: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging advertising technologies, communication tools, and stakeholder engagement best practices to enhance strategies.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position

- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus for senior roles
Minimum experience required of the position
-
- Communications Specialist II: 3-5+ years of experience
- Sr. Communications Specialist: 5-7+ years of experience
- Desired: 4 years of experience in professional communications and/or federal policy setting (experience working with executive leaders preferred).
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

- Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills for creating compelling content and engaging diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to manage stakeholder interactions.
- Proficiency in digital marketing and analytics tools (e.g., Google Ads, Google Analytics, Sprinklr, Mailchimp, Salesforce, or other CRM platforms).
- Analytical skills to interpret campaign and engagement data and optimize strategies.
- Knowledge of SEO, SEM, social media advertising, and media relations.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) is a plus.
- Project management and organizational skills to handle multiple campaigns, stakeholders and deadlines.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Some business travel required.
