Job Title: Engineer, Sr Lead Transmission

Job Summary/Purpose

This position acts in a lead capacity within design basis and serves as a system wide technical expert for the transmission protection equipment.  While not a formal supervisor, the role is responsible for broad leadership, coordination, and review of technical matters. This position works in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and is responsible for engaging with various system functions such as design, construction, asset planning, asset management, design and construction standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

•    Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for the transmission protection equipment. 
•    Devise new approaches to solving problem. 
•    Direct and mentor junior staff and oversee the engineering work on multiple projects such as development of protection standards and specifications, engineering analysis, evaluation of new technologies, assessing equipment failures, monitoring and addressing manufacturer performance, and development of resilient system design principles.
•    Represent Entergy as a technical expert within the industry, and engage with various Entergy departments in the development, implementation, and change management associated with standards.
•    Work with consultants and equipment manufacturers and interface with a broad range of departments on technical issues.
•    Leads the development of company-wide processes and procedures.
•    Serve as a change agent for achieving business and stakeholder objectives. Provide guidance and coaching to other departments on engineering matters.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution.
  • Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
  • Masters Desired.
  • PE Desired.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering discipline. (8+ yrs with PE or MS Degree)

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • This position acts in a leadership capacity among peers and requires excellent communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills.
  • The Sr. Lead Engineer requires the experience, skills, and knowledge to effectively coach and mentor junior staff and serve as a subject matter expert. 
  • Must be capable of managing multiple competing priorities while timely delivering on commitments.

EEI Testing:
