POSITION PURPOSE:
This role provides support for corporate Transmission and Distribution applications. The primary responsibility is support of application development, maintenance and day to day support of Entergy’s Power Delivery Applications. These applications are a mix of Third Party applications and In House developed applications. Custom applications support many business functions for the Power Delivery organization that support day to day operations and span many functions. Primary Support includes IPS Energy solutions, but can also include GIS Applications (IPS Energy Solutions, GE’s Smallworld, ESRI, EPOCH and others). This role will be filled as an IT Consultant I.
Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide operations support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours on-call support.
- Serve as an expert in business needs and maintaining context for improving business and IT alignment.
- Maintain awareness of business objectives, including critical business problems and business goals.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and innovations in technology.
- Work with the Service Delivery Managers and Business Unit leaders to maintain an understanding of business/client priorities and functional processes.
- Provide Operational Support (through Incident Management, Service Request Oversight, Problem Management, Change Request/Enhancements, Compliance Support, and Application Environment Management) to achieve service excellence.
- Provide an interface with software vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party application systems.
- Participate in team 24 hour on-call rotation.

Experience:
- IT Consultant I: 0-2 years of work experience in IT application support
- Title is dependent on Experience and Skillset
- Desired experience for the position
- Experience in software design lifecycle with emphasis on requirements gathering, testing, development, support, and troubleshooting.
- Experience and strong skills in interfacing with management and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical senior managers.

- Very good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to support real-time systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Software Development Life Cycle, Change Management, Project Management, Conflict Management, Vendor Management, Test Management, Business Analysis
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (specifically MS Excel with pivot tables and charts)
- Stakeholder engagement, Organizational skills, Operational/Problem Management
- Ability to perform critical analyzes an issue with other team members and come to the most reasonable and least impactful direction.
Leadership Style/Characteristics:
- Highly motivated and ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Ability to implement process improvements where needed to streamline process workflow without being requested by business.

Minimum Educational Background and Physical Requirements Required to perform Job:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical degree or Experience Equivalent
