Job Summary/Purpose
Construct, Build and Maintain OH/UG Electric Facilities Within the New Orleans Downtown Area
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Working in small enclosed spaces for extended periods of time.
Working below ground in energized electric manholes and transformer vaults.
Construct, Build and Maintain OH/UG Electric Facilities in the CBD with primary voltages ranging up to 34.5KV including but not limited to:
Installation, removal and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services.
Installation of OH/UG transformers and the wiring of all types of transformer banks.
Troubleshooting cable faults and use of cable fault locating equipment.
Installation, operation and maintenance of equipment associated with secondary spot and grid networks such as network protectors, network transformers, and network relays.
Installation, operation and maintenance of primary voltage automatic transfer switches.
Driving of different sizes and types of trucks.
Operation of various pieces of equipment, such as Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks.
Read and understand job prints, sketches, schematics and wiring diagrams.
Recognize material(s) and their function.
Be available for on call duty and emergency response.
Qualifications
Required to have, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Drivers License.
Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
Good communication skills.
Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
Ability to plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to assume a lead role and direct the work of other linemen.
Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
Ability to learn through classroom instruction, OJT and repetitive motions.
Ability to climb and work off of poles of various heights.
Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly, and safeguard assets.
Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.
Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.
Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
Must live within 30 road miles of the work location.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum experience required of the position
Louisiana (Non Bargaining)
- Helper: 0 years’ experience required
- Lineworker I: Completion of an accredited Lineworker Training program OR 1+ years of demonstrated lineworker experience required
- Lineworker II: 3+ years of demonstrated linework experience required
- Linewoker Sr: 5+ years of demonstrated linework experience required
