Job Summary/Purpose

Oversee and manage the company's cost allocation and apportionment processes in which costs are allocated from service companies to business units and functions. This includes the development and evaluation of allocation methodologies, establishing and maintaining billing methods, reviewing billing results, settling of intercompany receivables and payables. The role is heavily involved in rate case support as allocation results come under scrutiny in rate cases and/or RFI's. The job includes sometimes being called upon as a witness in rate cases and/or preparing testimony. As affiliate accounting issues arise, this role often consults with various regulatory groups and FERC Legal to find the appropriate solution. The manager also works on high impact special projects including the audit and reporting of storm costs. 

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Account for and analyze billings and allocations: Perform monthly close activities, including closing analysis of service companies - ESI, EEI, EOI, ENNE and control accts.; Process journals: aircraft related expenses rent expense, zero out service company net income, 5% surcharge, etc.; Account reconciliations; Re-billings that may be necessary due to retroactive changes to billing methods; and Funding - inter-company transactions.
  2. Maintain billing methods including assessing the need for new methods and adjusting current billing method percentages for changes in the business. Provide expert guidance on appropriate billing method selection.
  3. Review and analyze allocation results for reasonableness (Transportation, EEI rev re-class, safety, service company recipient, 5% surcharge, ESL depreciation, time study allocation, etc.). This includes maintenance of the affiliate flag logic.
  4. Review and approve billable project codes including review of billing method used and scope statement.
  5. Provide rate case and regulatory filling support including writing testimony, developing exhibits for witnesses, responding to RFIs, analysis of affiliate billings/allocations. This includes regulatory reporting for 92 settlement agreement, PUCT, APSC, MPSC, CNO. Provide external reporting support - FERC Form 1, FERC Form 60, 10Q.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience. MBA or advanced degree in accounting preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position

8+ years’ experience in accounting or financial processes and management of a mid-size team or mentoring of employees.

               

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Knowledge: 'Expert' in processes, systems and controls; Strong knowledge of Entergy and its accounting functions; Technical knowledge of accounting. Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements and testing as coordinated with internal and external auditors. Skills: Able to manage multiple and frequently changing priorities; Knows direct and indirect customers for all work processes and understands their needs. Abilities: Ability to identify problems, trends, and reasonableness; Identify/recommend possible solutions; Ability to supervise others and coordinate with other departments/functions.

 

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

CPA license preferred.
