JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Takes responsibility for the Company's program for the physical Protection of Entergy property, equipment, and facilities as well as for the investigations of security violations committed by employees or private individuals when violations involve company property. Averages 500-550 investigations per year in Security Department. Conducts investigations of all violations under their scope of responsibilities at the Company's nuclear facilities as well.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides advice and assistance in the development of sound security practices and procedures in all areas, except nuclear, of Entergy operations.
Selects and monitors contract or proprietary security forces for adequate coverage at required locations as appropriate; as well, monitors contract security force training where appropriate.
Advises on necessary physical security features to be incorporated in new construction and remodeling projects. Coordinates contacts with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and other government officials concerning security issues within each respective jurisdiction. Conducts investigations of thefts or suspicions of theft of Entergy Property, and obtain return or restitution of assets stolen.
Conducts investigations involving malicious damage to Company property and equipment, to include sabotage and subversive activities. Conducts investigations of other unlawful acts including extortion, assaults, drug abuse and any other act which results in bodily harm or loss of property. Conducts all workplace violence investigation. Administers contract security alarms services.
Conducts Physical security vulnerability surveys of Entergy facilities (non-nuclear) and make appropriate recommendations to improve security. Provides protection services to executives and their family. Provides and coordinates the security plan for the annual board of directors, quarterly board meetings and shareholders meeting.
Regarding Sabotage reporting, takes responsibility for responding to the Ethics Line notification, making contact with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and assuring appropriate members of the Interconnect and regulatory entities are contacted by the appropriate Business Unit (e.g., System Operations Center, Entergy Asset Management, Nuclear control rooms, System Planning and Operations or Network Operations Center. Also, submits the initial OE417 form for Fossil Generation and Entergy Asset Management (EAM) as required by the Department of Entergy reporting requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Typically requires a college or university degree in related field or the equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
Security Specialist: 5 years of relevant work experience in law enforcement or security management.
Prefer Experience: 10 years of experience in law enforcement or security management field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Lead Security Specialist: 7 years of relevant work experience in law enforcement or security management.
Prefer Experience: 12 years of experience in law enforcement or security management field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
ASIS certification in PSP or CPP is preferred.
