Sr IT Consultant (Service Delivery & Portfolio Management)

Responsible for ensuring that Entergy’s IT investments are focused on delivering projects that are of high value and in line with the organization strategies and objectives.  The IT Consultant works with the IT Technology and Service Delivery Organizations to ensure that strategies and roadmaps are appropriately defined.  The role will further be responsible for the supporting Entergy’s Portfolio Management Process to ensure that projects and programs are reviewed to prioritize resource allocation, and that the management of the portfolio is consistent with and aligned with organizational strategies. Helps with justification and prioritization of solution requests and approved projects and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure solutions integrate with the organization’s infrastructure and long-term goals by possessing a deep understanding of the business strategy and technology needs of assigned groups.


  • Supports Technology and Service Delivery Organizations in the development of strategies and roadmaps that are in line with Entergy Business and IT strategies and objectives. 
  • Governs the overall IT planning and roadmapping process to ensure that plans and roadmaps are properly developed and reviewed on an established basis.
  • Works with other IT organizations to develop and enhance IT planning and portfolio management processes.  Effectively communicates changes to processes as required. 
  • Leads the annual IT capital planning process by working with Service Delivery Organizations, IT Leadership and other Entergy stakeholders to develop and gain approval of the plan.
  • Assesses projects by understanding overall value, resource demands, interdependencies on other projects and impact to the IT Portfolio.
  • Tracks the progress of the project portfolio by working with the PMO organization to understand overall health of the portfolio.  Communicates status and results to senior IT Leadership.
  • Tracks new project demands and changes to the overall project portfolio.  Works with IT stakeholders to gain approval on proposed changes. 
  • Manages project portfolio and engages when necessary with troubled projects.

Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, or closely related discipline. Advanced Degree preferred.


Desired Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of experience in IT service delivery management, project and portfolio management and multiple technology domains.
  • Experience is developing IT strategy and roadmaps.
  • Experience in supporting project and portfolio management or working in a PMO environment. 
  • Utility Industry knowledge preferred. 
  • Strong working knowledge of infrastructure or application technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships
  • Strong business analysis skills including strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Knowledge of telecommunications industry, Entergy's fiber optic system, and familiarity with general and Entergy financial and strategic processes.
