Job Summary/Purpose:

This position focuses on Application Management and is responsible for supporting leadership, providing operational support & maintenance and break/fix (Level 2) for a defined set of Entergy applications in the Utility Operations area supporting Electric and Gas Distribution Operations. This primary focus of this role will be to support Entergy’s Meter 2 Cash Applications. This includes Entergy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Meter Data Management System (MDMS).  This role is responsible to ensure this set of applications meets stated SLAs. This role will work closely with Entergy's external vendors and the relevant Development Centers Of Expertise (COE) to manage all issues related to the applications in the production environment. This roll will act as the liaison between the application end users, application product owner and IT support.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working with external vendors to ensure stable operations of assigned applications and the timely resolution of problems or incidents. Conduct root cause analysis of problems and facilitate the resolution of the underlying cause or development of appropriate work-around. Coordinate level 2 (break-fix) support for Entergy's applications via external vendor.
  • Oversight of vendor(s) in the implementation of new releases, upgrades, or enhancements. Ensure compliance with all project deployment methodologies, internal standards (e.g., Security, Enterprise Architecture (EA)), operational guidelines in support of IT's strategy and organizational objectives, and compliance with Entergy's stated disaster recovery processes. Develop, maintain, and test the Disaster Recovery Plan in coordination with Entergy Business Continuity Planning.
  • Monitor external vendor performance against stated SLAs and performance expectations. Active management and transparent reporting of application performance to IT leadership.
  • Maintain awareness of the IT roadmap for assigned application platform(s); expected upgrade cycle, end of life support, and operational risks for existing applications.
  • Manage portfolio of assigned applications, including configuration management and licenses. Ensure that existing portfolio conforms to Licensing, Security, and EA standards.
  • Execute the Release & Deployment Management processes. Coordinate with Program Managers and COE leads to ensure seamless transition into production environment. Responsible for risk management and roll-back plans in adherence to stated policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.

 

Minimum experience required of the position

7+ years working with production applications.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Knowledge and experience with Itron / Silver Spring Network AMI Head End System (AMM, Grid Scape, UIQ) and Siemens EnergyIP (eMeter) Meter Data Management System. Experience managing within an 

application support and maintenance function in an outsourced environment. Ability to leverage and mentor others through technical team leadership. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
