Job Summary/Purpose
This position serves as s Survey Coordinator for Transmission Projects of all sizes being executed by multiple execution groups within Entergy. Acts as a liaison between internal customers in Transmission Line Design, Substation Design, Project Management and Construction, and Transmission Grid Reliability and external survey providers to ensure deliverables are received and delivered to requesters in a timely fashion. This position performs highly technical activities, requiring extensive experience and skills.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Survey Request Intake & Review:
- Receive and review survey requests and associated scope of work (SOW). Engage with internal teams to clarify project needs and ensure all necessary documentation is provided.
Survey Package Requirements:
- Ensure each request includes the full SOW, list of required deliverables, KMZ file of the survey area or centerline (C/L), and all relevant work orders (WOs).
Surveyor Selection & Coordination:
- Identify and assign the most appropriate surveyor for the job based on project complexity, location, and capacity.
Safety & Site Considerations:
- Discuss any site-specific safety protocols with the surveyor, including traffic control requirements, potentially unsafe areas, or known issues with landowner relations.
Proposal Management:
- Request and review proposals from the surveyor to verify accuracy and alignment with the SOW, budget, and schedule.
Contract Release Preparation:
- Prepare and issue a contract release that includes the correct WOs, detailed scope of work, estimated cost, and projected duration.
Access Verification:
- Confirm all landowner access permissions and restrictions are addressed prior to field mobilization.
Field Oversight:
- This position requires extensive travel to visit and monitor active survey projects in the field.
Receiving Deliverables:
- Should have general familiarity with common deliverables such as LIDAR Survey Point Files, Level A/B/C Subsurface Utility Engineering, Structure & Property Staking, ALTA Land Title Surveys, and Plat Development.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
- Technical Degree (2-year Associate or 4-year Bachelor's) and/or years of operational experience in electric utilities commensurate with progression level (20 years for Sr Trans Spec)
Minimum experience required of the position
- 8 years with 4-year Bachelor's degree, 12 years with 2-year associate degree, 16 years with supervisory experience, 20 years without degree.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Technical mastery of engineering and design principles. Recognized by peers (internal and external) as a master in their field. Mastering of relevant processes and policies, plus exceptional design skills and judgment. Consistently demonstrates good judgment. Mentors/leads other EAs and engineers. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Basic theory of electricity. Ability to interpret construction drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self-motivated and dependable team player. Good math skills. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement. Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
